You have a Force Feedback joystick... yeah, that has some issues with JtL.

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D pro, without the Logitech software, so I don't see this kind of problem.

One thing that may help is unplugging the joystick for a minute or so, then plugging it back in, before launching SWG.

I have this same very problem, thanks for the adivce. (The macro)

(It's what kept me from doing a lot of JtL, 'specially leveling....)

Welcome to the world of lag.

Sure, your ping might be sub-50, and your packet loss at 0%, but there's still server/client lag on occasion.

Turn down all the space-related graphics options you can. Turn nebula details all the way down. Turn off the cockpit frame and play in 1st person view. Put /flushGraphicsResources in a macro and put it on the hotbar so that you can click it when you need to.

That's what I do, and even with a cable modem, playing at off-peak times, I still occasionally get very brief periods of exactly the kind of thing you describe.

what does this command do, I have not seen it before.

the name is kind of obvious, it free's up graphic resources. but what does it do to achive this?

Try it and see :-P Helps (alittle). Curiosity killed the cat!

Weird bug. I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D Force Feedback joystick too. I'll have to try what's recommended next time I log in.

Yup looks like a (joystick)driver problem, there may be alternate drivers you can try or if it has been a few years you could upgrade to a saibek(sp) they are realy nice controlers and I haven't heard of this problem with them.

Play the game or don't it is what it is and will never be what it was for better or worse. I intend to play the game as long as it is fun, that does not make me a fan boy of brown noser. I know the game has it's flaws, but it serves no purpose to dwell in the past.

/flushGraphicsResources

/flushGraphicsResources fullReset

Both of these clear currently unused textures from memory. The first command does a 'small' job, only flushing the cache. The second one flushes both the cache and active memory, IIRC.

There is usually a small delay with the second command as the program reloads the current view from the server. This delay isn't too noticeable when you don't have a lot of lag. In high-lag areas, or when someone nearby is using a speed-hack to move like the Flash, the delay is noticeable only because things get faster after you use the command.
