I agree with you 100% here Colonel.

However, since those of us who proudly fly the RGI are "forced" into flying a blaster magnet because of the neon paint scheme (my personal RGI would be retouched in standard Imperial gray to be honest), why not give those elite Ace pilots theoption to at least choose the "stand out" color of their own death?

Or from a personal perspective - maybe just Red or Gray as the color choice. I'd be most happy with that!

RandAiden,

I salute you for serving in the Imperial Guard. The Empire appreciates your service and dedication.

However, something you may not know about the Guard... the red color scheme is meant to attract attention. RGI pilots are some of the best, if not the best, pilots in the Empire. We want the enemy to see these craft and instantly associate them with death. They also distract enemy pilots from seeing their principal, usually a Lambda Shuttle. Also remember, if the enemy is attacking the RGI, they arent attacking the Shuttle (giving the Shuttle pilot time to jump to safety).

Changing the color to something else would go against the traditions, dating back to the old Republic, and would also remove our distinct tactical advantage (from the perspective of distraction).

Perhaps the Imperial Navy should contract a Heavy version of the TIE/Interceptor instead? One identical to the RGI - only not issued to the Guard... We have the Heavy TIE/Fighter and the front line pilots rave about it... why not a Heavy Interceptor? Perhaps we should submit this idea to the Imperial Material Command...

/ooc - I think a heavy interceptor would be cool... I just think for RP purposes (storyline) the RGI should stay red. However, I also think the quest to get it should be tweaked just a tad... The quest should be something along the lines of "the path to join the Imperial Guard" or something... maybe a two part quest, ground one resulting in the Imperial Guard uniform... and the space one resulting in the RGI... /ponder/

Someone said earlier something about a WHITE TIE... I think that would be cool - but again, against the story =/

yeah i guess so, it could be an off shoot like the Ivory Gaurd. sounds kike a cool name, or how about player squadrons with there own colors! but again, if u want custom colors you cant go with the imperial, it the sacrifice we pay for our service and undieing loyalty. if you want custom colors you have to elevate yourself to the next level or survice as an imperial gaurd, if not leave the navy and become a freelance pilot and paint your ship... traitors.

Hey, how is the weather out there in left field?

I dont see this thread as trying to take Satrwars (does that involve pan and/or nymphs?) out of Star Wars. People want to be individual - this thread is about ways to do that while staying in the Imperial theme.

Probably the closest ideas to individualization so far, in this thread, that could work would have to be the development of a Heavy Interceptor (biased!) and the "Trophy" emblems (kills)...

However, I dont think either will be implemented... so let us have our fun imagining what can and cant be.

If you want to flame, go do a jedi count and get back to me about Star Wars.

Now gentlemen.

I believe, the Imperial Starfighters, allow some leeway for their most prominent pilots to decorate or mark their fighters.

Lets talk about for instance:

Mauler Mithel, Black 2 or DS-61-2, who was one of the handpicked pilots to fly wing for Lord Vader at Yavin. He had 27 flames painted on the side of his cockpit, one for each kill he had made, before he was transferred to Lord Vaders wing. He also had a holo of his son, Rejii mounted on the control yoke. Sadly, he gave his life for the Empire in the battle of Yavin.

Backstabber, Black 3, or DS-61-3, who also was one of the handpicked pilots flying in Lord Vaders wing at Yavin. This Corellian, had a corellian slicehound painted on the side of his cockpit. also one of the many loyal pilots to give his life for the Empire.

Wampa, Black 11, who was one of the pilots handpicked to fly escort to Lord Vaders lambda shuttle. Whohad his ship decorated with a stylished wampa. Believed dead after the battle of Yavin.

Sularus Brenn, who performed so well, he was awarded the "Medal of Conspicuous Gallantry" after his 43'rd kill. his TIE was decorated with a stripe by the cockpit, in the colors of the ribbon of the medal. He continued to support the Empire after the death of the Emperor.

There are also several squadrons, that bear markings, like a white diagonal stripe along the side panels, marking them as a elite squadron. Others like the Emperor's Sword squadron, have sometimes been seen with a small sword painted on the hull.

Full colorisations, have never been aproved by the high command, outside of the Guards, but squadron markings and markings of pride, have been seen from time to time.

So if you excuse me, I have to return to my squadron, and once again apply to my commander to have a stormtrooper helmet painted on my ships hull.

I dont think Einstein could count the amount of jedi in this game. Imperial guard Ties are red for the Reason of they escort the Emperors Shutles and transports (That Hes On). All other Imperial ships get the standard Color. I still want my phazers and Klingon war chants!

**TRRjt0y^&%&7fgoldr&Alliance hacking succes&E%&&^E&^in$^%$5, 4$^3, 2^%E%^1. Citizens! I warn you! The imperial army is considering taking away one of our major recruiting abilities. They threaten to counteract the Alliance's feelings about letting pilotscustomize their ship however they see fit. Our promise that everysoldiercounts may be at risk! At an imperial summit the other day one of our spys reported that "One man stood up and suggested that elite pilots be able to modify their ship's color schemes." Thankfully, the color scheme issue remains debated and the higher ups in imperial commandallowing pilots to customize their ship's color schemeseems doubtful. The higher-ups seem to like the uniformity of the ships and the camoflauge uniformation offers. They do not seem to care that the camoflauge for the ryal guard interceptor is not very good, because they enjoy uniformity. Besides, the camouflague on the imperial ships does not matter, as contact from lasers seems to light up their ships just fine...CONNECTIONLOSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTjlkiodsoijgf^^*Dhgh
