Thread: Option for Imperial Aces to color their Guard fighters.
Hm... well I understand wanting to be "individual" or "unique" but that doest fit with the Imperial Navy scheme. The Imperial Navy are a military organization and as such need to have uniformity. The RGI is not a standard Imperial Navy craft - and is actually reserved for the Elite Imperial Guard (hence the Red paintjob).
Flying the RGI is not what the standard Imperial Pilot yearns for... a life of escorting Lambda Shuttles! Barring the rare assassination attempt, the RGI pilots see NO action.
Trust me - as an Imperial Marine assigned to the Emperor's Retreat... assassination attemptsare rare indeed, in fact... I seriously doubt the need for Imperial Marines to be assigned to the Retreat (due to Lord Vader's presence among other things!)
If you want to be individual/unique - perhaps you should fly for a privateer squadron, I hear they let you do anything to your ships you can afford...

On a serious note (ooc) - I like the imp ships being standardized. It fits the storyline and makes sense. I understand where you are coming from - I just dont agree with making Imp vessels customizable (other than winglets and components).

I agree with you 100% here Colonel.
However, since those of us who proudly fly the RGI are "forced" into flying a blaster magnet because of the neon paint scheme (my personal RGI would be retouched in standard Imperial gray to be honest), why not give those elite Ace pilots theoption to at least choose the "stand out" color of their own death? ![]()
Or from a personal perspective - maybe just Red or Gray as the color choice. I'd be most happy with that!
If they fix the hit box then I would have no qualms with them letting you make it look like a standard TIE/Int.
Of course the Imperial Navy has rules regarding customisations but the Imp pilots are not part of the Navy they (and all of us really) are contracted freelancers.
Leaving it ace only and on one ship only would limit the pink TIEs enough IMHO but then again... people do some strange things to get around this being a Star Wars game sometimes...
Feel kinda jipped that Rebels get these fancy new texture kits (asteroid resources) and yet I can't even set the basic colour.
*mumbles something about wanting another turret on his Decimator too*

k' here goes...
Withthe introduction of the Guard Interceptor, the Devs have clearly shown that Imperial fighters CAN have different colors - especially those showing elite status. I have to say the Guard Interceptor is probably my favorite ship to use (but not becauseofthe color). While I don't mind being the "Red Baron" of space (in my opinion the differentcolor makes us stand out like a sore thumb in PVP), if I must stand out, I would like the option to color my craft anything I like. Now hear me out here...
Only Aces would have this ability (so "lesser" pilots would still be stuck with the standard Guard red). Kind of following the Dev's "Red Baron" logic here - during World War I, 'Flying Circus' pilots (the elite) could paint their aircraft nearly anything they wanted. Now I am certainly not advocating pinks or purples, etc, but how aboutallowingAces (SWGs elite) to colorthem all white, or all black, maybe even green? (or heaven forbid, the standard TIE gray?)
While this concept might be reserved exclusively for the Guard Interceptor (because it's the only already different colored ship in Imperial service) -itmight possibly be extended to other TIEs owned by Aces. Now I for one, actually love the fact that the Dev's have totally restricted color choice on Imperial craft - for the very reasons they have already given (I really don't want to see every other TIE painted red or blue). But since they have "forced" us to operate in red Interceptors if we want the extra performance of the Guard craft, why not allow Ace pilots a little extra perk and give them an option to color it their way to "stand out"?
Any thoughts on this?

No matter what great item is put in game some annoying whiner will find something wrong with it. If you don't like that ship's color that much then just park of sell it.

As this has been brought up again (though it's kinda under hijacking
