Hay guys. What's going on in this dev intro thread?

I've been working on the live game for most of the JTL development process, but I cameon boardduring the 4th quarter to bat clean-up. I've been working mainly on mission giver/skill trainer logic and polishwith conversations and quest progression. But now, during theend of daysI'm helping the mission guys test mission balanceand helping Platypus test Shipwright balance.

So... that's about it. Um... how are you guys?

Seriously though, we really do appreciate your help, hard work, and patience with Beta. I hope that everyone has been having, and will continue to have fun!

Oooooooh devs! *Homer Simpson voice*

Barbeque time! Wich dev want to face me in Bestine at dusk? I'll be Master Marksman in composite, you'll be Master commando in stormtrooper armor.

Lets see if you can get me before I can get you!

Naah, I wouldnt want to humiliate a dev that way.

But I do have some..uh..questions:

Flazm: UI? really? Then this question is for you.

1.Is it possible, sometime in the future(enough on your plate for now), to make it so bazaar screen settings stick? So if I reduce the "Bid" section to like I6000I...That it would stick, and no more retuning the settings everytime I log on?.

2. SpaceUI comm, is purdy! I love the taunts and when I communicate with the stations. This currently bleed over to ground..Fixed today. But, it's too purdy to only be in space. Toggle for "speech boxes/comm" on ground? please? It's just so purdy and actually functioning so well. sometimes, the speechbox ui, bleeds out of view, if you're in odd angles..a comm screen wouldnt do that.

Next question:

Wich dev is responsible for the Imperial hat? *Looks around while polishing his flamethrower* Some dev is going to either have this flamethrower shoot fireworks in the air, or be my main guest for a barbeque....I would prefer watching fireworks, while we all wear a working Imperial Cap..even if it's just for human/zabrak males in the beginning.

Okay, enough of this.

Good to see you devs come out of the lil cave for air. I swear, that if I could, I would have arranged for at least a pizza and beer delivery a month to the cave...But I have this hunch, that it's the doormen who will need to work out alot later then.

Keep up the good work, and keep listen to us...That is, when we're sane and not affected by the "No one is a hero but me" syndrome.

Hi. I'm Calan Thurow, a programmer working on JTL. I've been on Star Wars Galaxies pretty much since the beginning.

Most of the things I did in the original game are things you wouldn't see directly. I wrote the persistence (database) system, the system for dividing a planet between servers, etc. I also worked on the resource system and harvesters.

For JTL, I've worked on things that are more visible, which has been a lot of fun for me. I wrote the logic for how missiles fly and the effects they play. I worked on capital ship and bomber AI, and the autopilot system. I wrote the system for radial asteroids (the small rocks or pieces of debris that bounce off your ship when you fly through an asteroid field).

Currently I'm working on bug fixes. At this stage of the project, the bugs tend to be scattered over different systems, so every day I work on something else. The issues I'm looking at today involve grouping and the way groups are handled in the UI. Tomorrow I'll probably be working on something completely different!

Any chance I could slip you a fiver and get Missles a maximum turn rate? They're so feindishly un-dodge-able. ;D

Kidding. Glad to hear from all of you. I've really been jazzed at the Dev communication over the last few days. it feels like we're really getting to talk to you guys. Hoping to see it continue into Live...

Or at least, give us JTL Beta people a forum flag we can wave to get your attention later. Please?

To those Devs that have posted so far, thanks for all of your hard work.

Anyone want to bet we don't see this post:

I am a programmer on SWG. Currently I am primarily working on JTL AI. If you want to comment on the JTL AI, please do so in the Focus Tests section regarding AI. We are improving the AI all the time and listening to feedback. Other systems I have written are audio, particle, lightning, and swoosh (ribbon) effect systems. I have also written numerous client and server systems including the client-side music system for entertainers.

I have been reading the AI (Focus Tests) and Audio (Audio Issues)sections and listening to concerns and feedback. Thanks for posting.

Hello!

I'm a systems-designer/implementer, currently assigned to JtL.

For the ground game, I worked on crafting and resource systems. Also did aspects of the mount, vehicle, and combat droid systems, among others.

For the space expansion, my assigned areas are general profession data, pilot commands, droid commands, and numerous catch-all tasks. I wrote a handful of the ship descriptions, for example. All the real long-winded and wordy ones.

Thanks for helping test JtL, everyone!

Hi devs. Thanks for all your hard work. As a developer myself I know what a pain these last few weeks have been. Good luck!
