Thread: Rebels have the least ammount of ships

I'm confused as to why Rebels can't use the YT-1300. Hello? Han Solo, one of the most infamous rebels (by the end of the trilogy, at least) flew one of the most infamous YT-1300s. In fact, there are a number of ships that should be pilotable by two, or all three of the piloting professions. This is what I think they should do:

Place the certification for the YT-1300 at the master tier of every piloting profession, or at least both Rebel and Freelance, then make its ownership require Novice Smuggler.

Similarly, make the Firespray require Novice Bounty Hunter to pilot.

Make the Z95 available to Freelance pilots as well. In the description of the Z95, it makes it sound as if the Rebels are a tertiary market for the Z95s, that the primary consumer for the ship is private (i.e. freelance) security forces. Besides, I don't think that most of the freelance fighters look very starwarsy, and this would give freelance pilot initiates an alternative to the Hutt and Black Sun fighters.

Add a new ship, the Ghtroc Light Freighter (a popular alternative to the YT-1300, in the fiction), as the new master-tier multi-passenger ship for Freelance Pilots. Yeah, this ties up resources (they could pull it off in a week with two or three guys, but that's beside the point) so it wouldn't be a quick fix, but it makes more sense than the current setup.

That's true but with TIE's you can go lower on the engines and reactors than an X-Wing. Why? TIE's have the turning bonuses so you don't need as much in the area of an engine - granted it may have a slower top speed but a smaller engine in a TIE will outperform a large engine in an X-Wing.

Due to the low number of hardpoints on a TIE, the reactor needed can be smaller. This leaves more room for other things. With an X-Wing, it has 3 weapon hardpoints. Fitting 3 weapons, shields, armor and everything else you end up having to take more corners (lower level stuff) just to get the majority to fit as well as needing a larger engine to make it perform better and a massive reactor to power all of the weapons, etc (not to mentiona huge capacitor)

Well, I've got a LOT of reactor and mass available on my current Tie. I'd LOVE to have a second weapon hardpoint to make use of it.

You'll need that mass at higher levels if you want to put in heavier equipment. It helps it be a viable craft even higher up. The bomber has two hardpoints. It's nice but I hated the capacitor drain when using them.

Here is my tip for people using ships with more than one laser hardpoint: When you get your weapons, don't bother with anything like a max damage increase sub-component, get a speed limiter (I think that's the name of the correct component for reduced cap-drain on your weapon) and have your shipwrightexperiment the cap drain (energy per shot) on the sub-component and the weapon itself to max. This way you'll be able to fire your weapons much longer. The speed limiter doesn't actually limit the speed much either! Worked like a charm on both my Nova and X-wing. And that's with some really trigger happy gunners on the Nova!

Hehe, yeah that's exactly what I did in beta, don't even notice a speed difference and the energy per shot is way better, I an around using 3 guns all the time, well at least until that crappy mass change went in

Well the fact of having to have lower level stuff in the X wing is wrong. I played beta and had all the stuff i was qualified for in my X wing. Granted it was mostly looted stuff but thats just the way it goes. Looted usually is better at some point. either way i think imperials got shafted. its why i fly freelance

Your rebels laddie against an imperial force that simply has more numbers and more technology.

You can't just change starwars lore because you feel abit out numbered by lord.

I kind of agree.

You should only have access to the ships from the movies.

Rebels are rebels and they are scrounging for equipment to overthrow the big bad guys.

Rebels get two variations of the Y-wing, and while that doesn't quite count as an extra ship, it gives the classic Y-wing some usefulness in higher levels. Also, both variations are two passenger, if I remember correctly.

I think only the standard Y-Wing is a 2-seater. I'm pretty sure the Long Probe only seats 1.

Falin

I'd just point out that the classic Y-Wing only seats one, and you get it at tier one. The long probe is the tier 2 Y-Wing, and it seats two people. Its listed under the multi-pilot ship box (not to be confused with the master box).

I'm a Rebel Pilot, and I'm not too disappointed that the YT-1300 is neutral only. I like the Nova. Besides, the last thing you want to see is a fleet full of Millenium Falcons engaging the Empire. I know the Nova wasn't classic cannon, but the Devs gave it a good backstory, and it'll do nicely in the Rebellion.

Out of curiousity, for those of you that want an extra Rebel ship, what would you make it? What niche would it fill? It seems that we have our bases covered with the ships we have.

thats dumb.by your logic, you must be darth vader to use a TIE advanced. or you must be Bobba oe Jango to use a firespray. quit raggin on the neuties and pipe down.belive it or not. han solo was a MERCINARY he was stickin around for more cash... (and the hope of scoring with leiya.) when it comes down to it he was a merc/smuggler. who are mercs/smugglers? FREELANCERS! so kwitcho whinin woman an pipe down!

A slightly better and more upgradable Z-95 would probably be welcome during tier 1 or 2.

I mean...hey...our TIE (basic) is pretty much the same in looks as the regular TIE we get at Imp Tech I.

Only difference is that it can be upgraded. I mean...dude..lol..please give things a little bit of thought before you make accusations toward SOE.

Neutrals have 7 3 Black sun ships and 3 hutt ships and the YT-1300+ firespray

Rebels have 6 shipsX-wing, A-Wing, B-wing, Y-wing, Z-95 headhunter and the Nova Courier + firespray

Now dont say im a rebel because im saying this, im an imperial and i think it would be crap if thats what the imperials were like but will there not be another rebel ship added? just dont take an imperial ship away

I can't say anything about the Neutral craft so I won't comment.

I have flown Imperial TIEs in JTL Beta, and let me say this now: Rebels shouldn't complain about their smaller craft selection. What you have now is quite powerful and capable. The A-Wing handles like a TIE for all intents and purposes. The B-Wing? Well, it's a bomber. Same for the Y-Wing, but much less capable (lower tier also). The X-Wing? 3 Projecticle weapons and 1 missile slot. She handles decently and with the right hands, she'll carry you far.

Rebel craft pack ALOT of firepower in JTL. Imperial TIEs also pack less weapon slots. So, not only do the TIEs have less mass, they also have less firepower
