Thread: Anyone ever needed to use the capacitor overload?

Actually, I was speaking of using it in pve....when I use it in pve, even imperial gunboats don't take my shields down easily...they do get them down to about half, but the recharge 10 times faster then normal. In PVP, I don't know if they will function the same....even if they do, I don't see them being nerfed since you cannot shoot when it's in use....you can only use it every few minutes depending on your pilot special tactics mod rating.....I haven't timed it but it seems to last about 3 minutes or so at 4-4-4-4 pilot....between uses that is.

I could just imagine trying to do anything to an A-wing usingthis ability. I do guess though that in PvP it'd be possible to take the shields down faster, as NPC ships don't fire all that fast.

What do you mean came in so late. I have been using eshields since JTL came out. To be honest it will not be any good in PvP. It only has a benifit in PvE to more or less get away or to draw fire. When eshields are on you are basically in god mode as far as taking damage but you can't fire back at all. This is pretty usless in PvP since they can just keep firing at you untill eshields wears off and then you are back to normal. Eshields only last for a few minutes and takes like 3 minutes before you can use it again. As a master rebel pilot I use it as a last resort or if I want to draw all the fire from ships so others can take them out.

As in they come up over normal shields and don't actually work as a super-fast regenerator?
There seems to be some confusion here. E-Shields was in Beta, and has been in the whole time.
The new Privateer Droid Commands "Capacitor To Shield Shunt 1-4" were just recently added. The two are similar, but not the same.
Combining Capacitor Overload with CtoS Shunt is very nice if you have a large capacitor, because often you can recharge your shields and still fire your guns, unlike the "e-shields" trick. You're limited on how often, of course, by your droid interface speed.

Amen brother. Add in Reactor Overload three, toss in a weapon overload three and engine overload three, and I'm ready to roll with even crap. Of course...I'm still waiting on some nice Imperial Pilot to burn me a weapon overload three and engine overload three...so I'm flying...well...crap.
On a more serious note, my main gun does max 3500 damage. With Cap overload, I can fire for an hour. That's what I call piece of mind.

E-shields takes it from the weapon capacitor. Fromt/back reinforce transfers from one shield to the other.
Ok, so if you're at full shields and use reinforce, can you give yourself a double-shield like in the oldX-wing game?
Pretty much. Err, you mean reinforce as in shunt the energy from the cap? Yes, it's like a double shield.
I don't think so, the reinforce only transfers shield engergy back and forth. If you want to double the front or back hit pointson your shield, you need to use the adjust shield front/back programs.

I believe the confusion is between the two emgergency shields programs....the first one is the e-shields that is a pilot special command. The second one that just got added is the emergency front and emergency back droid programs....before patch 11.4, there were no droid commands for emergency front and back.
the pilot special command (e-shields) will take other systems power and nearly quadruple the speed at which your shields regenerater their hitpoints.....the only things they are good for is to take arggo off of your escort or other group members that are in trouble....to get away when your simply outnumbered....or in emergency situations (when your shields are gone and your getting hit in the armor and systems) to fully charge your shields....then once the E-shields wear off and you can shoot again, you basically have a fresh shield to continue the battle (at least until your shields get wittled down again). The speed of this one is effected by your pilot special command mod that's given from the special weapons and tactics line.....the e-shields last for about a minute I believe and takes about 3 minutes after you've used it to be able to use it again....the higher your pilot special command mod is, the shorter the time is you'll be able to use the pilot special commands. NOTE: these are the only commands that make each pilot profession unique.
The droid commands emergency shields front and back basically just take all of the stored energy from one and put it in the other. So if your front shields are down and your taking damage from the front and don't want to risk taking systems damage and your not taking a lot of fire from the rear (or any at all)....then you do the emergency shields front command and it will take all of the rear shields energy and put it in the front......The speed of this is only limited by the speed of your droid interface.....NOTE: these programs can be used by any pilot profession and makes them not so unique.

You can't use reinforce to get your shields above their stated maximum. (if your shield is max 2000/2000, and you have current shield power of 1000/2000, moderate shield reinforcement will give 2000/1000 by transfering half of the energy stored. If you have 1900/2000 and you use moderate reinforcement you seem to get 2000/1000 with the rest of the energy lost, you do NOT get above the original 2000.)
I haven't played around with emergency front and rear yet, so I'm not sure how they work, but it was stated that these commands just increase the regeneration rate, not the overall strength. Eshields also does this, but makes it so that you can't fire for the duration, and it IS possible to get destroyed through Eshields. I got hit by 5 aggressors that spawned RIGHT behind me last night. Even with Eshields they burned through my 2550/2550 shield in about 5 seconds and killed me in another 5. It is NOT the amazing PvP killing command that non-rebels think that it is.
