I like the concept.

The problem comes from implementing the pirates to be an actual threat, yet able to be combated. Finding the right balance wouldn't be easy.

Would love to see something like this ingame, however.

Crixx, Xicrx and Crixxorian Darkmoon - Rebellion, Corsec and Imperial Ace Pilots respectively.
"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."
"If your pvp battles in space only last a few seconds YOU need practice. The game isn't broken, you just suck!" - Thik
"There's no sensation quite like learning to fly. Tounge-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I." -Pink Floyd
"One/two shot PvP is good because this is a game of EVASION. NOT ABSORBTION" - Big mean heartbreaker.
"Sod implementing anything half-decent, we have SWG to make! OLOL!"
"We already have expertise in space. It's called a brain." - Leaph.

Here is how I do it.

I use a YT-1300. Put a 4.5k damage blaster on the bottom turret. And a mark3 mineing laser on the top.

Park the narrow ship against the rock. have the bottom gun face the rock, and make sure you can clip the rock with the top gun.

Then just shoot the rock a few times, pop, outcomes a chunk. Then just shoot up at it and hit all the chunks with ease.

Even when tier3/4 ships come at you. They have a hard time hitting yuo because your back is against the wall. And they dont change there aproach angle to deal wiht that. Most of the time they run into the rock and get stuck on the other side

And even if they attack, then just rotate the ship 180 roll. And use the lower gun.

with like 3.6k shields and 3k armor. They take a while to become a problem

And so removing the aspect of the game some people enjoy (chasing rocks) is a solution? Nah, lame idea.

If you have Rage of the Wookiees enabled, talk to Flash Harrison somewhere on the huge tree in Kachirho. I think I remember there being a proper FAQ in the shipwright forum, check there
