Thread: An Apology

Because up until recently, being Master Architect didn't mean anything other than what you could build. There is no difference between the quality of that small house built by a budding Architectand a Master so, a newbie Architect could sell his small house just as well as a Master Architect.

It's still that way pretty much. masters get a few more exp point but, that's it.

Architect is one class where newbies and Masters alike have the same quality products so it's hard to set any sort of pricing because everyone has a different value on their work and products.

I can mine everything and it cost me like 1CPU total to harvest it all (depending on concentration). People who only buy their resources, they cannot afford what I sell at or they loose money. People that buy at retail and try to sell for more are not going to be able to compete with people that buy wholesale and sell at retail (or a little less).

Anyway............... dead horse, sorry for spreading the bloody parts around some more.

Well folks I'll make this short and sweet

Let me start by apologizing for my extended absence. I should have left you more details on what's been going on before going incommunicado. There's no point in my going into details, the fact was I disappeared without explanation and I am fully responsible for my actions.

And as such I announce my resignation.

To those who would take the job of correspondant, let me warn that it is a thankless task, full of frustration and little reward aside from the reward of doing the work itself. Not unlike beating down a steel door with a Nerf ball, you will find little fruit to bear from your hard work aside from the appreciation of the community.

About the devs, they are great people. Everyone who is a part of these forums make up an awesome community. In my opinion, the correspondant program is a failure, not because of lack of effort ont he part of the correspondents themselves , the community or the devs, but because of the time constraints imposed on the devs. But that doesnt make it any easier to bear the fact that it takes a long time to see results of problems getting fixed.

I won't go on about the negative aspects of what's happening in SWG, there's enough of that. It's not the greatest game, but it is pretty darn good, and the devs are trying their best.

I wish the best to all of you. Perhaps we'll meet in World of Warcraft, but for now my time in SWG is done.

Thank you for your efforts. Thank you for letting us know.

I assume that you have formally told SOE that they need to replace you (should they want to keep the channel to the user community open)?

Hmmm...its a sad day when the Correspondents themselves are quitting the game in frustration.

I do find myself looking more and more at some of the up and coming games (WoW in particular), and there is not a person I know who says that they will be hanging around if SE is the crock that all suspect it will be.

Thanks though for being our Correspondent, you did a great job within the confines and shackles SOE have foisted onto you (and the other Correspondents).

My view is that Patch 6 will drive some folks away, Patch 7 will drive a few more, Space Expansion (if done incorrectly) will turn the galaxies into barren wastelands devoid of all life (except those silly enough to have recently purchased the game). I hope I am wrong as I still love to play the game - but there are sooooo many problems and issues that are being flat out ignored or are not considered "serious" enough for SOE totryfixing/repairing/dealing with.

Now - how to work out how to STOP being the Mayor of the City I run without bringing the whole place crashing down. How such an elemental issue as this escaped the Devs attention is symptomatic of the whole SWG experience.
