My only worry is about the lag in space.....I use a 56k to connect and I'm usually pretty good off ingame. Are the space servers up-to-par to the land servers?

You mentioned that you are calling the deep space sectors "wild" space sectors. Is this in referece to the actual region known as wild space? That would mean everything beyond ryloth down the corellian run, and probably includes things like the kathol sector as well.

Or are you using that term in a more general sense?

It's Well known that in canon Tie Variants and Tie Interceptors had NO hyperdrive.

Will you break with Canon to provide Imperial Players this option if they use Tie Fighters?

If so how will you represent the tactical advantage the Rebellion had by haveing Hyperdrives on all Starfighters, as opposed to Tie Pilots who had to rely on being Ferried from system to system in Capital ships?

This looks great, but I have a few questions/ideas:

1) WIll all the ships in a faction-specific tree be overt? Wouldn't there be some generic ships in there that are used as "blockade runners" and the like? I do agree that the higher-end ships should definately be Overt, but Unless I have a big rebel symbol on my ship, I shouldn't be immediately recognizable in my YT-1300.

2) On that same note, will there be Imperial ship raids? Few things would be worse to a pilot, (especially considering the tutorial), than to see a Star Destroyer and get a "Prepare to be boarded" message.

3) As for the pilot professions being free, I would say no. THey require time, just like any other skill. However, I think that the skill points should be increase for the characters. THat way, an Artisan who never wants to leave the ground can get more skills, and the pilots can do their own thing. And by increasing the skill points, nobody is forced to surrender current skills to pick it up.

4) A shipwright should be able to create a fully functional starship, with weapons, shields, etc, but the starship equivilant of CDEF weapons and bone armor - functional, but not very practical.

5) There should only be 1 piloting profession. The reason is that there are not of the same of any class, at least not that similar. THe more powerful faction-specific ships should be treated like the faction-specific arms and armor - TEF if used. With the ability to customize paint jobs, it shouldn't be too hard to allow for Overt and Covert statuses. It would be obvious that the guy in the TIE is an Imperial, the guy in the A-wing is a rebel, but the people in the B-wings (A mon-calamari ship, not specifically a rebel ship) or the YT-1300 could be anyone.

THat's just how it seems to me.

In response to no hyperdrive on TIE that I've been hearing, the answer to that is easy - they hitch a ride with whatever Imperial ship is going their way. We ARE in the middle of the GCW, and ships are travelling everywhere. That's just my answer to that dilema.

There should be two types of X-Wings and Y-Wings, or any other Rebel Alliance craft. One should be neutral only, and the other should be faction only. The same craft should never be allowed to do both.

On non-hyperdrive TIEs...

I think the solution is fairly obvious -- TIEs are not manufactured with hyperdrive units, but throughout the Star Wars universe, they have been known to exist. Simply put, if Imperial pilots are given the freedom to upgrade their engines and paint their starfighters, it wouldn't be beyond believability that they can use their out-of-pocket credits to procure a hyperdrive module upgrade.

Simply put, unlike other ships, TIEs shouldn't come stock with hyperdrive units, but have the option to add one in later on (heck, or during the construction process).

1) will there be more options for neutrals that want to pvp but dont fit into the strict black and white regiment of the rebels or imperials? for example, will the space expansion possibly include a mercany/jabba faction, or maybe a PK option button that you push which lets you fight with anybody that has this button also on? I know ALOT of people that are neutral that want to pvp without the /duel button but just have no way. This is really important to me personally, and many other of my in game friends. I just dont feel immersed in the vast law-lessness of space if I'm not under the threat of an attack from others.

2)Any Space-slugs!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

3)Are the joystick controls better then keyboard/mouse? I personally like using my mouse, but I was wondering if this will be hard to control, like a flight simulator.

Will we also get an option to download the expansion, so we do not have to buy it in a store?

Will you releaseJtL also in Europe at the same time as in the USA, or do we have to buy an import?

Shug:

Will we be able to name our ships?

Also, in regards to fostering community and GCW: Republic Cruisers, Rebel Medium Transports,Imperial Star Destroyers, etc.should be added for the GCW... basically serving as player cities andwarships in space.

I'd like to see communities living in space (not just driving around and blowing things up).

As a rare event, have a rare chance that Darth Vader with support, Boba Fett,Luke Skywalker, etc. may fly by when you're driving around in space.... sorta a 1 in 1,000 chance to see... they fly by and then quicklyzoom away.

good question Arkon...

perhaps the cannons will be locked forward or perhaps have some sort of gunner droid.

Also, for some extra multi-player ships, how about the Muurian Transport from the X-Wing series?

One last thing... we all know lasers are standard on fighters, but what about some larger munitions like proton torpedos and concussion missiles? Will these warheads be usable?

As far as the cannons go... in X-Wing Alliance, you could lock your turret guns forward, so I'm hoping they retain that mechanic.

And on the largermunitions, I'd like to see them be implemented like grenades or heavy acid rifles. After all, they're not regenerating like lasers, so you'd need to get more. This would also make them more precious and you'd need to keep a tight rein on your consumption or stockpile a bunch of them at wherever you were docking.
