My beef is not with you. My beef is with LA/SOE. You Jedi loving hippies just seem to get in the way.

Kidding aside, I'm just dissapointed with the way they handled Jedi as a whole. I wanted it to be something rare, mysterious, and powerful, like I mentioned, not something everyone and their mother can grab a hold on. Faux Jedi or not. I guess I shoud expect that from a business though. Jedi sell. Maybe I had deulisouins (sp) of grandeur that this game would actually hold true to my beloved Old Trilogy (fabricated professions and all)

I do love Star Wars as a whole though, don't get me wrong. Even at my age, I took time off work to camp out for Epsidoe 1 tickets. Maybe I'm just too big of a Star Wars fan.

I'm not thrilled with the handling of Jedi, I feel people get hung up on continuity too much, in a non-scripted game it is impossible to follow continuity, there is not enough info ina 6 moves to make a game without some violations, and if you have some, where do you draw the line. Not one movie that has the words "Based on" is the exact story as it happened why start here, why only one game. Star Wars has many games that break continuity all the time. I think if they made it so Jedi players don't or can't show off in public so we dont see Jedi players, then this would not be an issue.

But in an MMOPRG as a player type or possible player type you can't limit numbers, you either have it open for play (Difficulty can be changed) or you dont allow it at all. Marketing and sales wise it is clear Jedi are well regarded and wanted. Did they make a mistake in setting, well debatable but I lean to yes they screwed it up. The prospective was to bring classic Star Wars "Feel" to the game and have the first MMORPG be set in line with the classic movies, even if continuity is not followed much. To set it in post ROTJ means setting it based on the novels and not Lucas' stuff specifically, not very flattering. Setting it in EPisode 1-3 era would have been unwise too as those movies are not done yet so what little effort to conform to continuity and have storylines remain secret would be impossible to do.

We armchair QBs can easily save put it in the Jedi Acedemy time and Jedi would be fine that's true, but is that the best idea, and would it really stop those people from nitpicking another continuity blunder? Doubtful, so what is the solution? You can't please everyone, but sales show people liked, not hated Jedi in the game, this board doesn't accuratly reflect the sales figures.

If LucasArts breaks its contract with SoE because of game content/flop I wouldn't be surprised if SWG as we know it is shut down, for good. Then LucasArts would either not sign onto building another MMO or sign over rights to another company to re-build the game from scratch under a different title. So... as you can guess there probably won't be any break up because there are still players in this game; still a steady income and interest.

Lucas being "The Almighty" or not, (do you guys have a shrine of him or something? I wonder sometimes....) I doubt he would shut down an entire income source, even if small, this late in development. I would guess this rumor is farce.

You've got to be kidding me, because you work for a company you knwo the inner workings of Lucas Arts? Hello that is a rather pathetic argument. Just becuase your company does one thing doesn't mean it will stick. It is also possible that Lucas Arts would pay for the rights for the game (look at BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic although BioWare is not making it's sequel Obsidian is still using their system, which means LucasArts can and do buy thier systems.

The Game system used in KOTOR is actually owned by Wizards of the coast, and was licenced to Bioware, so it is Wizards in conjuction with LA that is licencing Obsidien. What I am saying is taught in college, it is industry standard, so once again you already said you know nothing, yet here you are certain as day that LA owns every part of SWG and people who do work in the industry dont know what we are saying. It was a good atempt it's just I know who has those rights too, so sorry it doesn't work.

I am not naive to assume I know anything about how LucasArts work, except I do know that they aren't like other companies, at least not when dealing with Star Wars.

No they are like Paramount (Star Trek), and J. Michael Strazinksi (Babylon 5) and opps well they also tend to follow industry standards on licencing. Look as I said the only thing that would happen is LA takes over and designs a new game, why is it so hard for you to understand this, Lucas didn't design the system, they dont own it, period your arguments, aside from the fact you dont know what your talking about (Your words not mine), your assuming something very rare happened here, and there is no basis to believe that as SOE continues to do software development and a second expansion as we speak, so it's weak, it's misleading and if you dont know what your talking about why keep propigating this rumor? What do you mean they aren't like other companies, can you give one example as to this radical behavior that LA and only LA does? Not sure what you mean but I know your wrong about it, LA is very much like other software companies.
