and if i changed it around and said that in order to gain access to the top tier ships YOU must never PVP again (yeah I know that I will be able to non pvp after but I dont want to PVP at all, it goes against my grain, you dont care what you kill as long as you are killing), what if you had to give up PVP to gain access to all the content, said you cant have all the ships unless you give up something that you believe in and do something you dont want to. Would you be willing to do that?

HAHAHA! Very good point. What would they do? They would CATERWAUL until the Devs changed it.

In DAOC, which many played before coming here, they came up with an expansion that was entirely PvE and led to great group-enhancing powers and artifacts. The powers were highly effective in PvP combat as well as PvE, and the realms that banded together and gained these abilities soon began to dominate in PvP/RvR with very small groups, often as small as two full groups (16 characters). When the hardcore PvPers realized that they were feeling the effects of these new Master Level abilities, there was a puch to get them, but when they started to have to PvE nightly instead of running around Emain Macha beating each other up, the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth began!

"We don't want to have to be forced to PvE! WAAAAA!"

"Why should I have to do something I don't want to do? WAAAAA!"

"I bought this game for RvR and now I cannot compete! WAAAA!"

So, you are correct. If they were forced to PvE to get what they wanted, and in copious and often burdensome amounts, they would be posting, and not you.

The point the orignal poster is trying to make is not so much that she gets beaten, but in getting beaten, her mission FAILS and she has to do it again from the start. That is, every time someone gets in her face while she is along the path of completing this mission, and let me tell you, 30 ships is a lot out there with all the random spans you have to fight off, and some jerk decided to take her out, she has the pleasure of restarting. It is not because she did something wrong, took on too many, whatever, it is because some griefer looking for sport targeted her and blew her away.

I would think that most of us, if frustrated over and over in an attempt to perform a difficult task, was thwarted by another player with nothing better to do than target other players because "the AI is not smart enough", would get annoyed at this. In fact, I would hazard a guess that the griefers do not always wait for her to be "free and clear" and engage her when she is already engaged. Where is the challenge in that? When you are fighting someone who is already distracted, you might as well fight the AI.

Well, just be paitient and wait. History will repeat itself (i.e. Holocron and Ultima Online). The SOE account department will eventually step in and mandate the DEV's to either disable PvP in Kressel or move the master missions out of there. When SOE's revenues bleed enough, this will get changed.

I have no beef with the guys who PvP. They should be allowed to PvP against others who consent to do the same.

The guys who PvP shouldn't be concerned about us who are strickly PvE. I don't see how it should be any skin off your nose. And for those who are GOOD at PvP, I've found that it isn't a concern for them at all. After all, they are too busy owning everyone in PvP to bother coming here and complaining.

However, guess what those who want to PvP but SUCK at want... They want a target rich environment of easy to kill players. This is the whinney, fit throwing, gotta have thier own way, trash talking bunch of snot nosed brats who get some crap like Master Missions in the PvP zone thrown into a massive multiplayer game. What boggles me is how someone on the development team can think they will get away with catering to this group?

The DEV's will receive a wakeup call I expect were they get reminded by higher ups in SOE that SWG is a business. Businesses are in the business of making money. And this balooney is gonna cost them money.

But if the spawn rate is good on the live servers and you have enough mates, then people will not complian. Plus it is not like you hve a waypoint pointing to your ship say i am the one with the mission come shoot me.

If it sucks on the live servers then yes move it some where eles, if not they can leave it where it is.

/applaud

This is a little test SOE is running before they move any further in the CB. If enough people stop flying because of the forced PvP then they'll know to LEAVE THE GROUND GAME ALONE!

I just hope that WHEN they fix it they won't set teh spawn rate for NPCs so low you have to be on at server restart for any hope at making Master.

you know what, I said no more posts but read the best news last night..... here is a quote from JTL manual

page 23: section Gaining Prestige Points

Once you have MASTERED YOUR CHOSEN PROFESSION (meaning that you have all of the skill boxes associated with the profession) you will start earning prestige points. There are Rebel, Imperial and Privateer Prestige points.

These Prestige Points can be exchanged to access high-end player-versus-player areas, including the unknown regions of Deep Space and the spice mine system of KESSEL.

So you cannot even enter kessel till you are a master pilot, I double checked it in game to, hit hyperspace key, there is no option for kessel system. Would have been nice if devs would have said in beta that the master missions are there for beta only, but they didnt. They just ignored all the posts..... Now I wonder what the master missions will be

They changed that during the beta. That manual is most likely outdated.

ok m8 if u dont want to pvp in space y dont u just buy an x-wing game or rogue squadren the point of this game being online is so u can fight with "real players"

The point is to have the OPTION to fight real players, as advertised, well except that they are now changing that direction and are going the route of failure games such as UO before they PvP became conditional, and Legacy II which suffers from major problems, folks either love it or hate it, but it's numbers show not many like PvP total. So SWG is just going a very unpopular route. PvP will hurt this game, forcing PvP will turn more away.

Forced PvP for things such as this is simply stupid. Too many people are actually looking forward to doing just such a thing. If you're going to require x amount of ships be shot down, by all means make the area tough, but don't add the abilitiy for smacktards who get their jollies off byharrassing people to do so. I'm glad there are PvP areas, as that means I can head there when I feel like fighting other players, but defintiely turn this option off for the missions. If it has to take place in these sectors, make them instanced.

The point of games like is this so that you can INTERACT with other players, not necessarily JUST fight them.
