Thread: Is it worth it?

The one question you should ask yourself when you think, "Is it worth it?" is this:
Do you enjoy Commando?

That's the one thing that makes it worth it for me, I LOVE the profession to death (in PvP... that's usually the case )

Commando can be better when stacked with some of the defenses of other proffs (go figure, we didn't get too much defense on our own.. :/)

I tried to stay away from master TKA or master rifles, because I figured I'd never use my commando skills if I had a far superior profession as my "backup." (I found at rifles 0 4 0 4 I was more effective in PvP with it than with my master commando skills... and that was just for defenses)

But in the end, it's up to you. if you don't enjoy it, drop it quick and find something you DO enjoy. It's a game, and in the end, that's what is most important.

About the wookie armor part, I'm a wookie master commando, and sometimes i regret the species choice seeing as to how our armor is significantly weaker (but made up for in extra attribute points) But if you save up and get a good set, its worth the cost

I am thinking about starting up a 2nd account to make a doctor as a buff bot. The 2nd account comes free from a friend that doesn't play anymore so I'd only be paying the monthly on it. I've been really busy with work latley and figured that I could grind out a doc and set him up as a source of income while afk. My other account would be my combat character, actually a MBH, and I don't want to give him up for a 5 or 6 weeks while I'm too busy to really play.

My questions are. Isit worth the time and extra 15 bucksto grind out a doc just to have him sit there? Does buffing people make you some money even if you buy the packs? Would I make more buffing people in major cities than I would sitting in a house being a bot?

Any advice is appreciated.

If you have a combat character on your other account, no it isn't worth it, you will make more money buying buffs in Coronet and running missions.

Well 30$ a month for something you could get just as easy with 1 char..then no not worth it unless you really want to make money then you could put your char's second profession as master doc

To make money ..well buy buff packs don't make,it takes too much time to get to where you are popalar with makeing buff packs for me i just buy buff packs make money in coronet, and give my extra money to my guild

I am noob (3 months playing) and today got my 1st holo which told me to master swordsman.

After reading a bit on this forum i just gottwo simple questions...

I got 3 more holos unused, will they be useless after publish 9?

Is it worth mastering swordsman then using my next holo?

Thx in advance,

you have a long road to follow and your only hope is that you can master grinding before mastering swordsman cause after june 22nd you can't unlock till patch 10. On a good note swordsman is a fun and interesting profession and fairly easy to master. Just get yourself a nice 2 hand sword when ya can and once you make novice swordsman head on over to the entrance of the geo cave and swing away. Those little buggers are vun to blast and the xp will rack up once you get an area attack.
Good luck

Thx for swift reply,

So, my other 3 holos are useless?

And when you say master grinding - (sorry still very new to all the lingo!) - does that mean master every prof off the artisan prof?

Cheers

by "master grinding" he means all of the artisan type professions where you can just run a macro and click, click, click all day (assuming you have several tons of the resources needed).

each profession mastered will have some sort of reward towards the jedi quests in publish 10, so it might be worthwhile to finish a ton of the easy stuff first. It's not clear if holocron professions will have more reward than non-holocron professions at this point in time.

swordsman is definitely one of the most fun combat professions, it gives you a real feeling of power and is a great way to make a ton of cash by running Janta missions on Dantooine for 25,000 credits a time (wait until you're almost master though - they hit HARD).

there are a ton of grinding guides out there - just google up 'grinding swg' to find about 15 pages of links!

Good, dedicated Armorsmiths make pretty good money. If you are also a Smuggler, have a Smuggler alt, or have a good working relationship with a Smuggler, you can make a killing selling sliced armor.

If you're only doing it for the money, you might not enjoy armorsmith.
