Question for all ye aces out there...To get rebel or imp faction points while in space do you need to be NPC overt or special forces overt or is both fine? The reason i'm asking is cuz last night i went NPC overt and went and killed TIE Fighters till the cows came home and got no faction points.
Thanks

You have to go overt in space. Ground and space have 2 totallly seperate Overt systems. If you are overt on the ground and launch, you are covert in space, if you go overt in space and land, you are covert on the ground (provided you were covert when you took off I mean).
To go overt in space, find an imperial space station, fly withing 1000m and /comm. they will ask you to go overt, say yes, and voila, FP heaven.

Space sort of works like the old system from the ground. Your either Overt, or your not. Overt = PvP enabled, killing factional mobs rewards FP. If your not overt, your not PvP enabled, but also do not earn any FP.

The nice thing is that the Empire really respects its non-human pilots. We get full faction rewards in space.

Should i make the assumption that the overt thing is the same for the rebellion also...for example does flying near a rebel space staion and /comm ing it will give me the option to become overt?

Yes it does. I always go overt in space just because there are ties everywhere I go. But you don't have to be ace to go overt. I accidently became overt when i was 1111.

Yes, sorry. I sometimes get somewhat narrow minded towards the Imp side when it comes to piloting
The very same works for Rebels at Reb stations, and if you are factioned on the ground, but Freelance in space, you can use the stations to go overt for your faction as well!
Keep in mind, using the Rebel Stations is technically against Imperial edict and I will shoot you down if I see you doing it
(that is if you are on StarSider)

yes...anytime you want faction points from shooting ties you need to go overt regardless of whomever gives you the mission. dont forget to activate your droid chips on the way too the rebel station as i have seen some patient tie pilots blending in with the local ties around the Talus rebel stations waiting for ppl to go overt then bounce them......

Just a fair warning..
If you go overt, your fair game. Some people may quite literally take pity on you if your a low teir pilot, and may pass you by and leave you be.
Most however, will not. I've only done so once, and those that know me was wondering what was wrong with me for having done so.
Generally speaking, if your red, your dead. So please be mentally prepaired if you go overt.

Naw, it just has equally low respect for all its pilots...after all, you couldn't pay me enough to climb in one of those tin cans and risk my life over and over again.
