Since the removal of damage penalties for space based PvP was implemented I have not noticed any significant increase in pilot's PvPing or wanting to PvP. Deep Space offers a few rewards. Access to level 10 loot, a PvP zone and a Star Destroyer to defend or take down. These offerings are very enjoyable, but rather limiting in the way of game play. We need diversity along with a compelling reason to PvP.

- Kill counts - Jedi have them, Ace's need them too! Name of defeated pilot and how many times defeated...
- Loot rights - We need some kind of trophy. A part that we can use or a trophy that we can show off.
- Space needs to be part of the GCW. - The super top secret never spoke about or revealed plan for the GCW needs to take space PvP into account. Ground and space do not feel intertwined and need to be.
- Squad based battles - We need PvP battles designed for squadron VS squadron .Capture the flag, king of the hill, last man standing. Etc... We need in space, what Battlefields where designed to do for the ground, but they have to work!

If nothing else,a kill count would really help! Having someone see that you are an Ace is one thing, having them see that you area deadly PvPing Ace is entirely diffrent.

PvP can be very exciting, but the reward for defeating your opponent is too short lived. The thrill of victory is the only reward.
We deserve and need better reasons and rewards .

PvP is space is lacking pretty bad IMO. Mainly for one reason all the ships are to damn slow and the game was designed bases around the ships tanking the shots instead of avoiding them. Players wind up playing space chicken to get their shots or fly around in tight circles trying to hit each other. I admire the attempt by the devs to incorperate some laws of physics into the ship manuevering but it needs to be faster. arial dog fights are all about avoiding the shots not tanking them.

Also JTL doesn't appear to have any GCW game machanics built into it besides imps shooting at rebs and freelance pilots blasting away on both sides. They just focused ot getting a space layer out and implamented so SWG can finally be molded into a star wars environment. They should have started with space to begn with IMO and added ground hot spots. Players should have been running amock in massive city scapes, space stations, huge reactor rooms, etc. Just wait a while. After the combat and ground GCW revamp space and ground intergration will commense. They'll find a way to justify people partisipating in PvP, ground and space, after that.

Not sure what any of that has to do with JTL PVP.

As much as the above does to do with JTL PvP, or was you goal just to inflame me? You hate me, who cares?

Seems you could ignore the post or being, your usual namesake you took the latter as usual.

Yeah, we should all just cut our subscriptions right now and re-subscribe when things get better.

Good observations heapum, I agree with all of it.

Slarus, I'm sorry you got upset, but that wasnt my intention. If you thought I was attacking you, then you are wrong. How you arrived at that I have no idea. I'm also sorry to say that I reserve hatred for no one, especially not someone on a public forum. You give yourself too much credit.

Clarification:

Since this is a thread about PVP in space, I tend to skip over arguments about the history of online multiplayer games, as well as the evils of power gaming/grinding.

Amuro0079, I did just that. Maybe SWG will be better in a couple months. WoW calls in the meantime.

These posts are so much more productive when ideas and their impact on the game are the topic of discussion. The further we can move away from personal attacks the better!

- Going back to my original post

Once people master their space profession and become an "Ace", the options for compelling gameplay become much more limited. The intent of this post, is to offer more options forfun and rewarding space activities that keep

usinterested in long term play as well as short term play. The gameplay that I had in mind is valid for all playstyles and types. I still think that getting more options for us all to enjoy is a valid concern, and for the long term "fun factor" needs to be given some serious consideration.

Ahhhh no. Its gonna get better. Canceling your subscription out of impatience isn't the way to go. when you get back you will still have a negative impression of the game. JTL looks like it was pushed out with alot of things missing that the devs probably still wanted to put into the game. They knew SWG wasn't going to survive without its pace layer so they pushed out the basics anyway.

Just think about this. before patch nine jedi ran around in 80% comp armor weilding 2500 damage sabers with medium armor piercing that worked. Players were getting nailed for 3k damage in PvP as a standard. with all the players unlocking and weilding that amount of power this game would have been dead and buried in november. Now the D stacker can stop a jedi dead in their tracks if they know what to do, since the devs reworked them for the MMO environment. They will get around to it as soon as they address the more serious issues of the game. messing with JTL now in attempts to promote more PvP will just make JTL look more like the ground game, jacked up.

if you really feel that canceling your subscription until it gets better is needed. Go for it. SWG is the devs rendition of the staw wars universe. Some people don't like it some people don't. All I was saying is you need to be patient.

Yeah heap, i hear ya, the problem is SOE lets their clients wallow in the mire that is the current combat system for months(JTL), and years(ground game) at atime. How much are we supposed to take before we protest by not paying for it anymore.

Well i would leave, but it seems that I paid a year subsciption that ends in July. I am cancelled, but I still play. I try to be as constructive as I can for the most part. Sometimes the frustration gets to me, and I fire a torpedo or two. Rest assured that when my account expires, you wont hear from me anymore.

Prue patch 9 jedi were not as powerfully as now, yes they could wear armor, and yes their sabers did more damage, but that damage was considered kinetic damage and everyone in comp armor had 80% protection.

Now the servers are ghost towns, 40% or more of the people who played on my server have left, many left are on jedi grind, those who did not get frustrated and quit for games where they could do other things then grind non stop for months to gain exp for a profession where they have to grind even more to be proficient.

I stayed for JTL, and was disappointed in it, why should I continue paying in the hope they fix the game in the near future when I can drop my subcription and ghost the forums watching what people are saying about stuff, and if what I see looks interesting then rescribe?
