Yep, it's certed at Tier 1. It's also arguably superior to most other Imperial ships, and will carry you all the way to Ace if you want.

I didn't get to use this li'l bugger until I got to 4433 I'm not Ace yet tho. I used every other TIE (excepting Bomber and Interceptor) until I found this. Can't wait to get my hands on an Oppressor!

Yeah, they're cool. Once I get it I'm gonna decorate it with an Imperial Office sorta theme.

90k mass, and flies like a dream. Heavy TIE, that is.

Might I say, hella F****ings yes? ~95k mass! NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND MASS! That is the BEST TIE with that much mass that's worth having till Ace (that isn't a reward for a quest)! Interceptor has a measly ~50k. The Imperial Guard interceptor has 80k (though I've read somewhere it's 90k *shrug*)

A second weapon and more spread on the fire would be nice, though ... I'm beginning to see just WHY Imp pilots hate A-Wings.

As a long time Ace, I don't fly anything except my Heavy TIE anymore, well except doing xp runs with newbs in my deci. The thing just rocks! I actually like it more than my Oppressor, and I never thought anything would get me out of that ship! It turns on a dime, maybe even better than an interceptor, it is crazy fast (.97 engine speedI think) and you can load it out with all that mass. I run mine with the following (remember I'm ace)

Reactor: Mark II 3800 mass 12K energy

Engine: Mark V 33K mass 114 speed

Shield: Mark IV 17K mass 1800 energy

Capacitor: Mark II 2480 mass 798 energy

Booster: (looted mark II) 1481 mass 1500 energy 23 top speed

Droid interface: (RE prenerf mark I) 480 mass 13.7 speed (lol I love this thing!)

Weapon: Experimental Blaster (green) 34K mass 3517 max damage .49 shields/armor 26 per shot

Someday I'll get some higher stat parts, these were just what i could craft with my SW alt before dropping it, not the best resources, but good enough. i just can't imagine what this thing would be like with nice RE parts!

As soon asI launch I run RO3, followed by EO3 then CO3 and finish up with WO3. This set up gives me a top speed of just under 1500 unboosted, over 1700 boosted, and I can fight with it at about 1300-1400 with excellent turn rate. I skipped the armor, the shield holds out for 99% of my encounters, if I get in trouble I floor it and hit the booster and watch the baddies just drop away lol. I routinely head to deepspace with it and pound A-wings like nobody's business, the only ships that give me problems are the B-wings, they are so slow that the TIE drops out of its manueuverability speeds, but a little jousting and all is good. I really can't recomend anything but these ships to a new pilot. As mentioned above it will take you all the way to ace with ease. Why pay for 3 different TIE Fighters when this is the ultimate one and you can use it with only one earned skillbox!

"Engine: Mark V 33K mass 114 speed"

YPR? My guess is that this is not a good engine. If you want "turns on a dime" you should see what some real engines do.

Started to mess around with a Heavy TIE this weekend on my alt. I'm not a fan of the gunplacement or the single blaster hardpoint, but its a very solid ship, and quite capable. I wouldn't like it more than my regular Adv. X-Wing or Belbullab, but a great ship if you want to make the Imperial grind one heck of a lot easier.
