I must say doing Imperial Missions really sucks for making money. I spend way more money in repairs then I do making money off missions. If you dont have a major stock pile of cash your going to go broke very quickly. Anyone else see that mission payouts suck right now. Its like I am paying to fly more then I am making...

You don't have to fly missions, although, duty missions should keep you covered.
Try the harder sectors for loot.

ok i never got in beta so this is gonna have noob written all over it...im a privateer pilot working tier 2, i have been doing missions out of theed, but i cant seem to find the npcs that give out missions on other planets. and i noticed above that you said just go to more difficult sectors, what do you do, just fly around them until you see something that targets hostile? thanks

What missions are you doing?
i've found i'm making more money doing JTL missions then i was able to on the ground..
but then again i am only upto doing the Tier 2 Duty missions..
i've found the Escort Smuggler duty missions make the most money and are the easiest (safest) since you only have 3 ships attacking and they are attacking your escort ship instead of you.. which allows you to pick them off 1 at a time.. (and for 4k a piece if you do it well is a good payout plus the ~1.5k in looted credits)
when i tried the steal imperial ships i was getting waxed a lot and ending up paying quite a bit out.. but those might be for upper Tier 2 pilots (i just finished my first T2 box last night)..
the stop pirating duty mission wasn't that lucrative so i stuck with the escort and made about 50k credits in the past 2 evenings..

making 50k credits in two nights is pathetic compared to buffing up and running mokk missions for 30k each.
I really think the devs went overboard with the idea of removing money from the economy, as it will just make it that much harder for new players.

The trouble with trying to remove credits is that the people with the large amounts of credits are the ones that also have little left to buy.

Cry your ship must suck cuz I barely die, and yes this is in the Kessel zone and other hard places with just a TIE/In and Mark 3 parts.

ya this money synch is definatly more malicious planning on the part of soe. Its too bad too, because the exp is not too bad, tho im starting to get turned off by it....mostly as i abhor the crappy ground game. Its a complete mess and i refuse to even play on the ground anymore, quite simply the ground game is dumb, boring and repitative. Ill finish jtl then im out. All u one-star posting fagets can have the game all to yourselves.

Anyone thing maybe this is planned? By keeping payout in the air minimal and it "costs" to fly they are encouraging people to not give up on the ground game.
Also, with loot you should be able to do ok. I hear some shipwrights are paying 10k per level for looted items, seems crazy to me. But many are buying them hoping to get the firespray schematic. I would think you could make at least 100k from loot per day, and 50k in missions isn't bad.

for being Tier1 it is pretty good..
compare that to the ground game when you were working on your first novice boxes it is a lot better..

I tend to agree being a very casual player.. I just hit a little over a million credits recently. Couple days before JTL and now im down to under 200k. The play is now, dont JTL until you get the composite/doc buffs/food and drink, run solo jantas or mokks getting 200k a hour (whatever)for thousands of credits THEN go for JTL. heh

Oh horse puckey, the 'remove money from the game' element has not gone overboard.
Basically the less than stellar payouts in space are a way to force you back to the ground occasionally to earn the money that you want and thus keep the game economy moving.
And these spaceships are like running jetliners. Its the reason airlines go bankrupt because it costs more to run the plane than you receive in revenue. Breaking even is really really hard to do.
Face it, the real economy is still planetside. Space is a high-credit frill designed to drain those billion credit reserves that are out there, and spread the wealth some. No it doesnt hurt the little guy, as the tier 1 & 2 ships are cheap to maintain, and easier to obtain.
Yea your X-Wing/ VT-1300 are very high maintenance craft. Thats the price of flying the bigger, fancier ships.
