Thread: Doing the imperial spy mission off Dantoinne and I am ambushed by 6 tier 3 ships at once????

What the hell is up with that. They didn't come in 2 waves, they came all at once, and 3 were interceptors. To top it off, because this is a continuous and contiguous mission, you can't land and reload missiles or get any real repairs if needed. I don't mind when you get two separate waves of ships spawning and attacking with a little time in between, but this was all 6 at once. Come on, that can't be right. Please tell me that they are not intentionally making a mission that I have to complete before I can advance on impossible for me to do. Even 6 tier 2 ships at once would be hard, but tier 3.
Good times... if you have a wingman..
Pah
now if they where tier 5 a-wings that might have caused a bit of a problem.

The days of ships popping 3 at a time for a mission are over, my friend. Expect them in no less than clusters of 5 or 6 now. And learn how to turn a joust into an easy drop on their six.

FINALLY! A pilot who knows how to fly!
I just wish more people would try other tactics than "jousting". There's a reason the air forces of earth train their pilots to do fancy maneuvers. They're not just for air shows...they're for use in combat situations. Barrel Rolls are GREAT for making your ship hard to hit in space. (this is different thanjust aroll of your ship). In space you don't have to worry about crashing into the ground...so try out your fancy tactics, and have fun!
(and if you're having problems with 6 Tier 3 NPC's...you're in over your head...higher level missions spawn 10+ Tier 4-5 ships...some with turrets...you're gonna want to make some pilot buddies.)
You can work it out. Stop doing missions for a while and do some solo flying. Learn to kill Tier3's like clockwork. Get used to your current ship. Each time you change fighters, do more non-mission flying. You need to know the dynamics of your ships and your opponents before you fight them.
If I can take on four Tier1 TIEs and a Tier2 TIE in a freebie Z-95, you can handle six tier3's. (And let me tell you, I EARNED that Tier2 kill.)

Yarrrrr, that you did! What do those guns hit for, 10-25 damage?

When you are just into tier 3 and limited by the scope of your equipment, those tier 3 ships are not exactly easy. Just because you have the equipment to survive such an encounter does not mean everyone else does. Skill plays a factor in the missions, yes, but even the best pilot in a lowly Scyk/Tie/Z-95 with level 1 gear would be hard pressed to survive against 6 Tier 2 ships targetting him at once. I just got this mission last night and haven't launched it yet, but judging from the previous mission (Missions I should say, since it was basically 4 missions in one with no chance to reload or repair) I've already figured out that yes, I'm going to need a group for help.
If your friends are stuck at Tier 1...and they're the only people you can get to help you...might take some time and get them caught up to where you are...then they'll be worth something to you. I wouldn't dream of taking a Tier 1 guy to a Tier 3 mission...it's just begging for him to die. Just use your ship to get their missions completed faster. Should be a cakewalk for a Tier 3 pilot to take out Tier 2 missions. Also make sure you have RE'd parts in your ship...makes all the difference in the world. (and droid programs need to be running...can't stress this enough)
