Thread: The super-speed NPC engines have got to go!
HATE. They include:
1. NPC's/AI that never miss, or appear to never miss.
2. NPC's/AI that "wins" because it has better equipment then you can ever obtain.
3. NPC's/AI that is not playing by the same rules youhave to play by.
The current situtation with the ships AI commits all three of these sins.
1. You can be pulling some serious G's, twisting, turning and spinning but you are still hit wap, wap, wap. The only time
that you are not hit, is when youa more then a 90 degree angle from your pursuing attacker. Manuver is disreguarded.
The hit ratio is notto high, but we are not seeing any of the misses!When it comes to turrets dang the NPC gunners
2. Can you say Uber-Engine from the pits of he double toothpicks! There is not asnowballs chance thatwe can fly at those speeds,
3. Not only are the engines uber but the turning ratiois tighterand the booster excelleration is insane. We are not fighting against an even match, but against a higher tier ship with a lower tier name. The sence of speed is gone, because the enemy ships move so dang fast, turning in an X-Wing feels like I am turning in a 747. It is not that we can not win a fight, that is not the case at all, it is just thatbattles lack the feeling of the WWII dogfight that George Lucuscreated inStar Wars. It is getting better but more tweaking is needed!

umm learn to fly .. learn to dogfight ... i've no problems taking on tier 5 awings/tie advanced/tie intercepotrs/oppresors with my Rhikk or my dune lizard hell i can stay on their 6's no prob in my yt! and i can do the same with my oppresor and interceptor no prob.. ditto for my firespray

The problem with both of the above comments is the AI for teir 4 and 5 really DOES need to change, and whats ironic, is i dont have to fly or dogfight at all to blow them out of the sky, AND be efficient about it.
All i have to do is loadup a longprobe with teir 8 or higher guns, a decent shield, cruise at 30% throttle, line up on them and blow them away as they stupidly charge straight at me with their idiotic jousting behavior.

Well, good for you. But not everyone has a Ywing. I have 2 3.8k damage guns on my Firespray, and when I shoot at the Tier 5 AI in Kessel, I can't for the life of me take them out in 2 or 3 shots. And that's with weapon overload3 chip.
So, you must have some pretty uber guns, which is rare in this game.
So, with that in mind, ask others who seem to do well in Kessel what their opinions are. Ask them if they can take out an Oppressor or an Aggressor in 3 shots.
Then ask to change the game dynamics on a more sound basis, not from one perspctive with uber guns.

You pick one, and watch him, usually the first one who charged will be the first one back. So you pick him out, and watch for him to turn around start his attack run. Line up, target reactor, and lay into him.
As for kiling stuff in 6 ot 8 shots, Other than unshielded Teir4 ties your not gonna do that no matter what you do. (althoguh i have gotten lucky on a few T/A's) The trick is to anticpiate them to get time to get more damage in per joust.
BTW you sound bitter. The AI sucks get over it.

Anyway, i think you missed my point. My point was advice and tactics is cool and all, but because of the AI being wht it is currently, its amost irrelvant becuse the AI is being unbeleivable stupid. By Doing what ive described in this thread, i should be getting pummeleted.
I have a cheap engine in my Y wing, i cruise at less than 200 speed at 30% throttle. THe only reason i throttle at all is to turn faster. Im practicaly sitting STILL. Doing that, I should be getting pummeled, not turning myselff into a revovling gun turret and taking pot shots like im at a carnie shooting gallery.
I am having no problems what-so-ever getting exp and completing tiers. My point is that it is NOT fun!
