Thread: Is it worth it?
Hi all fellow Riflemen/women ![]()
I have just started my Riflemen career, but I have a few questions. I am almost to Head shot 3. That line looks nice, but what about the other 3 lines? Is it worth it? I want to go the sniper lin...Master Rifle/Ranger, but I wanted some rifle people's opinions about if the other lines are good or not.
Garash
I never plan to PvP, so the line about flushing targets up is of marginal use for me (my pet Humbaba tends to force them up anyway when he's stomping on their heads). So I won't get ANY of that line.
Been a while since I looked at the skill tree but I think there's another line that basically just has two "dizzy" shots in it and the routine modifier boosts. That's not enough incentive for me to take that line either. I've got other things I need to spend points on.
In the Conceal line, I may get Conceal Shot (at Conceal-I) and play with it some to see if it's useful or not.... if targets still find me too quickly I may just use the Sniping line's HeadShot3 instead and blast them to pieces.
The sniping line has MindShot2 and HeadShot3... but since I won't ever PvP (and if I -did- I doubt I'd deathblow people very often) being able to deliver a deathblow at range isn't something I would want to spend skill points to get. So Sniping III is it for me.
There are +modifier bonuses for ALL skill boxes, of course, so the BEST Rifleman would get Master Rifleman and (of course) all the skill boxes. I'm gonna settle for MindShot2, HeadShot3 and -maybe- conceal-shot (although if it doesn't work I'll sell THAT back, too).
Just my plan, YMMV.
Andur,
If your going to RolePlay it then sure its worth it (Such as my case). If on the other hand you want a class that is balanced and that can contribute to a group then I would hate to say it but at this time Squad Leader is even more broken than commando is.
All of our bonus's are barely noticeable in a group. All of our specials cost a ton of Mind HAM that is very slow to regenerate. There is a lot of potential for the class but at the moment go with your heart.
I get people all the time asking me if it was worth it. I can only answer for myself when I say that for me it was.
Hi everyone!
I've been planning on becoming a squad leader. I'm not that far from. I only need to finnish Ranged Weapon Support Specialist then I'm all set to go. But as I've been browsing this forum to get a feel of SL I get the feeling it is not as good as it should be. So my question now is: Is it worth it?
Your thoughts would be appriciated.
And also, Ranged Support really gains slow, any ideas on how to raise it more effective? I'm a Marksman/Pistol Specialist with a FWG (or what ever it was called, don't remember atm).
Thanks
I've been browsing through these forums in the past couple of days and it seems that most people just whine about the class not being good enough. But I have only seen few concrete posts on what is really the problem. That it is problems, I understand, but instead of just whine about something and saying that the Devs should add colours and all that, that won't get you far. Its important that we collect all the info we need and see need to be fixed and get it posted on one specific place and have our SL correspondent to pass it forward to the Devs. And as Moff Tarkin once said "This bickering is pointless." In some posts I've read that SL people need someone to shout for you guys, maybe I'm not that guy, but I'm willing to give it a try if you are.
Let me know and give me more feedback.
Thanks
One of the biggest problems is a problem that affects every profession out there. Defenses don't work. And since two entire lines of SL are defensive, we see the problems more than most.
The positive flipside of this is that since this is a problem for everyone and not just us, we can see light at the end of the tunnel on this one.
Then again, I too like the roleplay side of Squad Leader. I think the profession is mechanically weak (as in it doesn't automatically add much), but if you already have the leader mentality then it gives you some nice handy tools to make your job easier.
Would you guys say BH is a worthy proffession?
It takes a lot to get there though? Scout/Marksmans masters.
I'm so debating on BH, Ranger, Squad Leader. BH seems to have more adventure and much more profit.
I hear Squad leader is cool but haven't tried it so I can't really advise you.
As far as BH, I'd be giving you a biased opinion, but I love it.
Geeze that's pretty insane, maybe Ranger is a bad idea then.
Squad leader seems ok since I'm always in a group. But BH seems pretty fun that's why I asked about groups ealier and BH. My friends aren't taking up the BH proffession. BH's usually work alone though and it seems like it might be some fun.
Well I ama Ranger with Camp 2 (frontering) and Wayfaring IV along beside BH and Medic and I'll have to say that there is few things I cant outrun, and with Burst, forget about it, exspecially on trips between citys, I roll.
Plus, while running out to meet the mark I mask and few things ever break the scent, except for the occastional kreetle. lol
I will haveto get rid of a few wayfaring lvls to make Master BH skill point wise, but right nowthe Ranger addition has made some portions of BH much easier for me.
If theres a hill near by, I'm as good as gone! ![]()
QNine - How do you move any faster then a master scout? I thought Rangers only move faster while prone.
Anyway, right now I am planning on evantually taking BH to master, which leaves enough skill point for one more novice elite, level 4 in a skill, and level 3 in a skill. I don't want to use 15 full points for a starter novice skill, so no medic. The would leave Pistoleer or Carbineer, but maybe Ranger would work well instead. Wayfaring and Frontiering might be nice depending on any future improvments that must be coming to the ranger class.
