Thread: Transferring JTL

I'm quitting and would like to give my copy of JTL to a friend that is still playing. Can he re-register the key after I quit? Does anyone have a definite answer on this? I'm sure SOE wouldn't let us, since they are too cheap to even let us have more than one character per server, but I was wondering if anyone in the community might have an answer for me...getting an official one is impossible...

Thanks in advance!

I'd say no, however you could let your friend pay for your account and play it after you give him the name and password.

I would just contact SOE and explain the situation. Currently you cannot unregister your key so he can register it but they may do something

Read the EULA (you've agreed to it every time you've logged into your account). Account transfer is NOT allowed, and may result in account termination.

oh really? wow...I've been playing a year and a half and didn't know I was agreeing to that...geee thank you oh wise one...

I asked about transferring JTL...not an account...seems ironic that someone that tells me to read the EULA doesn't even read my post.

You've enabled/registered your copy of JTL? Well congradulations, it's now part of your account. There's no need to get rude with me because I gave you an answer you didn't want to hear. Don't like SOE's policies? Take it up with them and spare me the sarcasm.

Don't care one way or the other about the policies...rules are rules and I've lived with them since day one. Seems like other people told me the same thing and I didn't have a problem with their answers...

Just yours for some reason....

Spare me the lecture on reading the EULA and I'll spare you the sarcasm. Anytime someone doesnt know the answer to a question they refer to the almighty EULA as their backup to "NO". Next time someone wants an answer, try to be helpful and don't lecture someone on reading a document that is so vague and all encompassing that you assume it will back up your point of view. I'll take advice much more willingly from someone that's actually read it than from someone that talks like they have...

To Quote the EULA:

1. Accounts are available only to adults or, in their discretion, their minor child of at least thirteen years of age (for the purposes of this Agreement, a "minor child" is a person of at least thirteen years of age who has not reached the age of majority under the law of the jurisdiction in which he or she resides). If you are a minor child, your parent or guardian must complete the registration process, in which case he or she takes full responsibility for all obligations under this Agreement. By clicking the "I Accept" button, you represent that you are an adult and are accepting this Agreement either on behalf of yourself or your minor child. You may not transfer or share your Account with anyone, except that if you are a parent or guardian, you may permit one minor child to use the Account instead of you (in which case you may not use that Account). You are liable for all activities conducted through the Account, and parents or guardians are liable for the activities of their minor child. Corporations and other entities are not eligible to procure Accounts.

Wow, that's vague for you?

Now let's take a look at your original post...

So basically, you acknowledge already registering the CD-Key, that you're fairly certain SOE won't allow you to transfer it to another party legitimately, and want to know if anyone on these official forums can tell you a work-a-round to bypass SOE authority/policy.

You want irony? You call SOE "too cheap," but somehow that doesn't seem to apply to your buddy who's evidently too cheap to purchase his own copy of JTL.

Way to go.

Yep...I'm trying to get around the policy....ugggh...like everyone else that went out and bought JTL for a friend or a family member.

I'm not transferring intellectual property, I'm not giving him items, I am not giving him an account, I am not transferring credits....

I am simply wanting to give him JTL as though I had bought the damn thing in a store. I am done arguing with you. It cannot be done...I got it. Your argument as deteriorated to name calling....typical

Thanks to everyone else that answered my question with some semblance of maturity and without drawing their own conclusions about what I was or was not doing.

Im going to step in here and say one thing. Yes under certain circumstances JTL can be transferred from one account to another. I have had it personally done to my accounts. We have 3 accounts and bought 2 copies of JTL. One copy was enabled on the wrong account. SOE was contacted, the problem was told to them, they looked into it, and after all was said and done it was backed off one account and applied to the other. Now before I hear that it wasn't used, or played it was, by my son who didnt know it was applied to the wrong account.

A simple, honest question was asked here. There was no need to quote the EULA, or be rude. If you arent sure, don't respond.
