Thread: 3 Ship Limit too small!

As a veteran of SWG I qualified for the Luxury Yacht. Cool! I can now avoid long lines at the Starports. However I am now limited to two spacecraft in my inventory. Not Cool! I'd like to keep my X-Wing and add a B-Wing and a XLR-Courier Transport or a Firespray to my Data Pad in the fututre. Teaming up with different players on their mission will require different spacecraft to fulfil the roles; fast attack X-wing; close support Y-wing with lots of armor; etc. I hope the Dev's take this into account and expand the number of spacecraft control Devices in a players's Data Pad to 4 or more. Please discuss.

Thanks for JTL it saved SWG!

You can redeed the ships you are not using. Just strip out all the components redeed the ship store it in your backpack. Then if today you want a fast light ship pull out your a wing. If you want to whip out a bomber then pull out your b wing. I intend to have one slot for my vet ship one slot for my rebel master multi person ship and just redeed the others and pull out what I want to use when I want to use it.

isn't that kind of a pain in the ass though? you'd have to take the components out of it and carry those around, or store them. ugh. i just don't see the rationale of allowing only 3 ships in your datapad. why not 4? or 5?

Do you seriously outfit more than one ship at a time? Why?

right now i have my tie/ln, my interceptor and my bomber all decked out, and while i don't use my tie/ln that much anymore, i'm loathing just deeding it when i get my tie advanced. i could potentially see outfitting all my ships for situational use though.

Different ship types will need different equipment...

  • Your High Mass Bomber loaded with the biggest armour shields guns and missiles and a reactor big enough to power it all.

  • Your Mid range ship with Ok mass, using big armour and shields etc., but not as big as the bomber

  • Your Low Mass dogfighter With the best low mass high output parts you can loot or get made, probably quite weak armour etc.

Now some items i can see shared, the particularly good engine light-weight engine that outperforms even the level 10 stuff, the high charge capacitor etc. but many of the components are going to be unique to the ship they go in. So to have fighter on top of the yacht and a MP ship you will probably need to store 2 deeds and 15-20 components all the time, plus have room to pull all the components from your current ship to re-deed it and set-up another.

I was lead to believe that the yacht was not going to take up a ship slot in the datapad, this i could cope with, as even if you wanted 3 different solo ships you only need to hold one in inventory at any time.

I usually use my components in one ship to outfit another if I change ships. Of course,I can't do that anymore.

As 4433 Privateer, I now only have one ship that is useful to me. All the other ships simply don't have the mass or the maneuverability, or neither. So, I digress.

I agree totally with this.

I have the yacht and it totally puts me at a disadvantage, when it comes to designing mission critical ships..

I think the limit should be raised at least to 4, 5 would be a nice round figure, but 4 i would say should be a bare minimum..

You guys will notice you kept the yacht deed when you "released" it. You could always get rid of the yacht when you want to get a 3rd ship, and then release it again when you have the ability to.

SWG has always been about choices and limits. Limits on skill points, limits on lots, limits on inventory. It makes you make decisions and not have everything at your finger tips.

The Devs are forcing you to make some decisions. Luckily, they allow redeeding so the decision just involves a small hassle of inventory management.

I don't see this as an issue. Make decisions and plan accordingly.

I know about the redeed stuff, but the components I use in my B-Wing will be different from the components I use in my A-Wing & X-Wing. Don't even get me started on the master level multi-player ships. We need more room. One or two more slots will make a world of difference.
