Thread: Invulnerability and CSR's

sent in a petition on the problem with having a BEGINNER mission send you out to scout and being ambushed by 4 tier 1 npcs...told them about not being able to do consistent damage to them once I get into a following arch on a ship. Only place I can EVER do any damage is if I get directly in front of or behind an enemy ship. Now I know some on here have whined and complained about people just sitting in the arch and blasting away at enemies but let me be absolutely clear...once I get into the arch I can pretty much hang it up on doing any damage whatsoever regardless of how many times I hit them. The CSR's response to this was "we feel it is fair and balanced." Now, how the heck is it fair and balanced if I can't do damage consistently based on the number of shield hits I can see? All the while the other 3 that come in after me when they spawn can a) have missles and b) even without missles can damage me from every angle imaginable. To me thats NOT fair or balanced. I go on to tell them I am real close to cancelling my account because JTL is totally unplayable other then getting in my yacht (sp? really late and doesn't look right) and going sight seeing. Combat is out of the question because of what I described earlier...the CSR's response? "Sorry you feel the need to leave us and we wish you well." I'm sitting here thinking, "these people could really care less about the people paying for this game." To me its as if me and people in my situation are "acceptable losses." So instead of looking into what MIGHT be the problem or helping constructively they pretty much said "nice knowing ya, but don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out!"
So here I am...not sure which pisses me off more...the fact that JTL is broken for me (and a few others just by reading some of these threads) or the fact that I, as a paying customer, am being lumped into this "acceptable losses" catagory.
so bottomline...customer service ingame blows~~~
If its not the game thats messed up them why am NOT the only one having these issues? If it was just me then no biggie but it isn't just me.
You know something, my eyes hurt after reading your post.
Seriously, what is the problem your having. I have no problems doing damage to tier 1 ships or any tier of ships I have gone up against.. Maybe you need a bit more practice leading your targets. Even with the jousting NPC's now I can still take them down from the top, bottom, right or left sides of the ships. Takes time and patience but it is doable.
Why is it that CSR's do not care about if your leaving or not. Because 98% of all people that say they are gonna cancel their accounts will not cancel them but wait till the next patch comes out, find out that what they were griping about isn't being addressed then complain to the csr's that they are gonna cancel a second time. Hell if I was a CSR I would probably do the same thing.

I've been playing flight sims since there was a thing called a flight sim. It is a bug, plain and simple. More than just the original poster has had problems with it. This should be a priortiy fix, IMO.Message Edited by Massadonious on 11-21-2004 04:01 AM

So... It doesn't work on your computer but works fine on your friends so it must be an in game bug?
Couldn't possibly be anything to do with your pc no?

And to the first poster: are you sure you are shooting into the green 'leading' target in front of the ship?

Nope.
I have cable, ping no less than 250-300, and the rest of my system specs are as follows..
ASUS AV8 mobo, with a Athlon 64 +3500, 1GB Corsair DDR RAM, BFG 6800GT OC vid cardwith 256MB of RAM.
I did a fresh Windows install a month ago. I have no viruses, no spyware, or other possible Windows errors.
Still, I fail to see how that could be PC error, with others are having the same problem as well. So, all these people that are experiencing this have computer problems? I doubt it.
It is a known bug, and has been at least mentioned by Tiggs at least oncein one of her bug threads on the In Development or In Testing, or wherever she posts those things.
Nope.

Erm I think we have located your problem.
250-300 ping is pretty high for a twitch based online game.

I'm stationed in Korea... I regularly get pings of 250+ and don't have any problem playing ... except the minor lag once and a while in Coronet.
First, sometimes the hit detection is a bit strange. Your guns don't converge in the distance and that can make shots that look like they should hit actually miss. The best solution I've seen for this is to roll your craft so you get a different angle on your target.
Second, you're just a bad pilot. Yup, this is pretty much 90% your fault. The weapon convergence thing is a pain but it can be compensated for. Everyone I saw have this problem had very little clue as to what they were doing. Do you know what deflection shooting is? Do you know about attack geometry? No? Then you need to go here: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_038a.html and do yourself some learning.

If you reread my post you will see that I can see where my shots actually hit the shields but no damage is being acknowledged when I do. Not unless I am directly in front of or behind them. The first week post-launch I was able to do missions and get to where I was doing duty missions with one character, now I wanted to mess with being RSF on another and can't complete even the very first mission given...tried doing missions with my char that is up to duty missions and can't complete even one wave of those. Real frustrating.
To the guy who asked what I wanted to CSR to do...No I wasn't expecting them to make the game easier but at least acknowledge that they were looking into what MIGHT be causing my issues and not blowing me totally off and writing off my account as an "acceptable loss." As I said before they can't be totally oblivious to the fact that there are numerous people having this same issue.
"Second, you're just a bad pilot. Yup, this is pretty much 90% your fault."
Not really...as I stated above I have gotten past this part of the space expansion with one character first week after launch..now I can't even complete the first wave of a duty mission with that same character. Second as I stated before I am close enough to see impact glows on their shields but nothing registers. I can do this for several minutes without getting a single damaging shot.

I think i agree. When i first started it felt i wasn't doin any damage at all. Then i learned how to fly and shoot.

Am I speaking a foreign language here? I said that the first week after launch I was able to complete missions. In fact I could go through at least 3 waves before having to head back to get my ship repaired for more fighting. Now I can't even destroy 1 ship in the first wave because no matter how many times I hit them there is NO registered damage to shields or anything else for that matter. I can pound an enemy ship for about 5 minutes with nothing to show for my efforts except getting my ass handed to me by his buddies.
I'm not asking that they make it easier, just not impossible. Or if nothing else look into what might be causing this. Because apparently I'm not the only one having this issue, and on the other hand alot of folks are not. If the CSR would have said they were looking into it or helped me troubleshoot from my end I would have been satisfied. At least then I wouldn't have felt blown off.
