My current RAM is 256, my processor is an Intel Celeron 2.7 Ghz,it's an 120gb hard drive, i'm not sure what else you need to know, how much will it cost me to upgrade to a reaspnable amount (I have broadband and 'cause of the low RAM i suffer from bad lag)

Depends what kind you need.
**Edit : I would recommend getting atleast 1 gig of Ram if your Mobo supports it.**

If you have a manual or something for your computer, it'll say in there. Otherwise, it'll depend on what motherboard you have. That's the largest circuit board in your computer, the one everything else plugs in to.
BTW, I'd suggest getting an additional 512 MB of RAM, just to be on the safe side. 768MB should be enough for decent performance. Go for1 GB if you can afford it andhave enough memory slots (the small slots near the processor in a tight group).

due toearning a paper rounds wages of £18a week, I don't have that much cash to throw around, and I have absolutely no idea about what mother-board i've got, my dad should probably be able to find out though so I'll ask him. Thanks for the help

there is going to be two kinds of ram .. DDR memory ... or SDRAM
with it being a celeron your ram speed won't have to be extremly high ... (PC2100 for DDR or PC133 for SDRAM) ... as for which type that depends on the brand of the motherboard ... most of the newer computers use DDR memory now .. unless it was one of the 'specials' that some companies run ... then it is using older parts ...
what brand is the computer? ... where did you buy it from? ...
DDR and SDRAM are not interchangeable ...
either way tho you are looking at about $100 for 512 more meg of ram ...
512 is the minimum i would try to play the game on (with lag in populated areas) ... 768 is what i have in my two computers and for the most part it runs just fine (tho there is more lag now that they did the ground publish on the live servers ... but it is zone dependant .. not population)

Oh, it uses DDR, also it's a Hp (hewlet packard) and it comes from Curry's I believe, $100 dollars? is that to add an extra 512 RAM or to just upgrade from 256 to 512? I really don't have much money to spend, at this current moment in time I have about £35 not including the £18 for JTL

the most the game will use is 750 meg so no need to go over 1 gig like I did,
3 gig of ddr400 cost me 700ish at a local shop which is normally more expensive than shopping online.
If you can afford it my advise is 1 gig.
check to see how many slots you have for memory, some PC's have 3 and some have 4.
for low income what you do is add 1 256 stick ever few months till you fill the slots
for a 3 slot pc you would end up with 768 meg and with a 4 slot 1 gig.

only 256M of RAM? how do you even walk thru a starport. This game is a memory hog, go for 1 gig if you can it is well worth it... I would make a guess of about 50 GBP is what it wil cost you for DDR.

in the beta using 1 gig of ram the game was using over 400mb of memory so i advise geting as high as you can up to 1 gig anything over 1 gig is overkill unless you do vidio editing or plan on running multiple games or other programs using high amounts of ram so i'd say the 756 or what ever would run the game with windows fine but its not just your ram that can cause lag so even if you do upgrade it could improve it but not solve the problem cause if your gfx card is too low that will also cause the game to slow down to a halt and i know since the new gfx came in on the last patch i'v had to drop down from max detail on geforce fx 5200 so all i'll say is try it but if you have other hardwear that is too old it wont totaly solve the problem.

my current setup:
P4 3.0 ghz E
1.5 gb ddr 333
280GB HDDs (200+80)
Radeon 9800 Pro
5Mbit Cable line for Inet
Computer setup is like lego.. -> motherboard(decides EVERYTHING your computer will be)-> Processor(brains and speed)->RAM(your computer "storage" for when it uses programs like jtl..thus more=beter)->HDDs with a bit of space(obviously this is the warehouse..depends how much u want or need)->Vid Card(ur blind and slow without this for games) more ram and more speed obviously better.
Your motherboard decides all these things..as in what it will accept and what not...celerons are the lowest of the low...id spen 70 bux on a Athlon XP 2500+ and get a Ns7F mobo from nvidia and go from there...but thatkk cost u a couple of bills
