Thread: Master Pilot helmet...who stole my neck?!

We all love rewards, and it's great that we've received some new items for mastering pilot professions.
Upon seeing the Master Freelance Pilot's helmet in the game my first words were, "Wow, who stole my neck?!?" I've owned all of the various different in-game helmets at one time or another and this was the first one that made my character look like egor, or like a 2000 pound weight had been dropped on my head thrusting my neck down into my body.
In this first diagram, we show a series of helms that can be found in the game. The eye line and the average shoulder line match up precisely for all of the models except for the Master Freelance pilot's helm. As we can see, the eye line is severely lower than it should be, as well, the shoulder line is severely higher, too. This gives the appearance that we have no neck.
For this diagram, I took a normal human head, and lined it up with the Master Freelance pilot's helm. In the first image, I lined up where the eye line is on this helm. As you can see, this drops the shoulder line drasticly, so the rest of the suit does not fit. In the second image, I lined up the shoulder line. My pompador no longer fits inside of my helmet, and I'm afraid I'd get an awful headache. In the last image, I lined it up to the levels it should be at, and the levels to which the model appear in game. As you can see, I can't see. My eyes do not line up with the eye shield.
The Art team needs to take another look at the scaling of this helmet. Hopefully they will be able to fix this master-level reward in a more suitable time than the Imperial hat was.

Wow the rebel helmet looks like utter crap. I was unaware that this game was Top Gun.

It doesn't even really look like the rebel helmet. I've never seen them with a mouthpiece that covers the whole bottom of the face. That's a RL thing, not a SW thing.
Not trying to be negative (since I'll never get master pilot anyway), but I wanna still be able to see my toon's face under the helmet. You know, like how they look in the movies/books/games/comics/YouNameIt.

Man, I was looking forward to getting the master freelance helmet too. That looks ridiculous.

I actually like the rebel helmet, it at least gives the feel of a emergency life support system. I think in the movies they didnt have face pieces because you couldnt see the actors. Vaders helmet was his character along with the Storm troopers and TIE pilots. I think if you had to eject in space our gonna need a full face helmet our your anus is gonna come sucking out your throat in a hurry.

They should simply make the helmet larger to the point it appears to cover both the head and neck.

I like the rebel helmet in the movies better, but at least the rebel helmet in the game isn't plagued with the disproportions that the Master Freelance helmet is. Rebels still have their necks!

Nice post, Adonus! I totally agree with you. When I first saw someone wearing this helmet, I thought the character's neck was missing, and didn't think anything about it being a problem with the helmet, but I can now see that it is. I hope they fix it as I will be receiving the helmet soon. I'm Rodian.
