Hi Mom!
its because will buy the game for the space expansion, not to be a bh anymore. we are not marketable as they see it.
i think it may be time to move on!
Did the subject of ruinedrelationships come upwith games such as this and Evercrack?
It would be interesting to hear how couples that play together and don't play together get along when playing MMORPGs.
Regardless of that, to the second fellow on relationships. I said this once about EQ (before pop and the xp rebalancing). Getting through 45 will wreck your vacation, through 59 will wreck your marriage, because well it does. Epics the same. More in people who don't play together but also in people that do.
Somewhat ironically, because SWG lacks that largely (or at least does till they revamp the jedi thing) it means as a game SWG is well, really weak. There's nothing you're working towards because you can basically max out a character on your vacation and just play from there on, there's limited content to work towards because its all right there. The materialism aspect is sort of the after you get a couple of million credits there's a minimal use for more money, much as you can have more there isn't much of anything to actually buy with it. SWG is better on relationships, but is really geared towards about 150-200k subscribers, whereas EQ (at least was, along with FFXI) are geared more towards 500k + subscribers, north american and european totals only. Japanese and south korean market is a whole other ballgame.
In terms of better immersive games, single player morrowind, europa 1400 are better games, online as I said above, EVE is good too if you want to have a look at spaceships that sort of thing. Deux ex (first one only), Metal gear aren't bad 'soldier boy' type stuff. But you're sort of getting into realistic and non realistic simulations. Compare microsoft flight simulator and say... wing commander. Everyone (or at least everyone with a brain) gets the idea of a sim for training, and you can sort of see the transition from real world, training sim, sim, and then idealized game. Car games I'm sure have the same sort of thing, put yourself in the seat of an indy driver, put yourself in the seat of an indy driver with a rocket launcher kind of thing.

In terms of an immersive community SWG is a really fairly poor example, mostly because it was done by soe. The only redeeming thing is that it's 'starwarsy' so the average individual will kind of recognize it. EQ and DAOC are vastly superior examples of community, and even UO to some degree.

i find it funny taht people call SWG "weak" when they're subscription is older than mine.
it may not fit the rules of MMORPGs but I think the poitn of this game was to rewrite those rules. There is not numerical leveling, content is very player driven, the economy is (ignoring eBay credit dupers) self sustaining.
You can complain about lack of content but this game pushes so much more and for you to say its weak... then why still play?
You have your opinions, the other 200,000+ players that still play have theirs
Neat story, thanks for sharing it. I bet it was cool to see everyone shut up and pay attention. lol
What I like about SWG over EQ is that it is "casual" gamer friendly. And having two kids, that's what I am. So my EQ account keeps collecting more and more dust.

Yeah, I think it is a lot less progress oriented than other games, the only thing you really need in this game to be "uber" is money. Money to buy armor, weapons, and buffs.
There is no difference between someone who has been playing for 1 year or 3 months, if the 3 month person has money they will be equal, once you have mastered a profession. Ihave played EQ and UO andSWG is quite a change. I'm notquitesure if it is better or not yet.
