Thread: YT 1300 Front Guns

I just finished watching ROTJ and sure enough I saw the YT 1300 fire from a forward gun.
Not the top, not the bottom turret, but from the front of the ship. When they attack the unfinished Death Star's reactor you see the Falcon shooting from the front.
Not saying they should argue to put in a forward gun but it does make sense in a universe of technology.
I never really paid attention to that part.

Actually the pilot community has been asking for this since JTL beta.

It would be nice, but have you ever tried to dogfight an mp ship? MP ships are not made for the angles game.
If the devs offered it, i would take it and maybe even use it now and again. But really, we already have forward facing weapons on the mp ship, they are called missile launchers. Load them up with concusion launchers to soften the target up for your gunners.

We've been asking for a third slot of forward-firing weapons which the pilot fires, or atleast turrets that lock forward and are fired by the pilot when they're not manned, for a long, long time. But the Devs have yet to throw us a bone.
Having one, or both even, would be very helpful. And make POB ships even more useful (and easier to fly without a crew). Some day maybe we'll get these... I can only pray.

Na they were lasers...
As for missles and the angles game I dog fight with NPCs all day in my ship and with passengers. See I tell them to look at the nose of the ship for targets and line them up for the kill. Or i fly past the NPCs and they follow and get destroyed from my crew blasting them. I even shoot off a space bomb or missle everyonce in a while in case of emergency.
I am not an idiot when it comes to piloting or even getting out of situations so that me and my crew are safe. I am just stating an observation and I can live without a forward gun. Its just an obvious thing, i mean in both Episodes IV and VI they used forward guns not missles.
Im not asking for it, I just realized that yeah there are forward guns on the YT 1300. I saw the argument before on the forums but never paid much mind to it.

Oh bloody hell not this frickin argument again.
The have it how they have it and the bloody aint gunna change it.
The only thing that is changing is that PoB ships are finaly getting there special components back that was taken away in early beta.
The only PoB ship that is out now that will ever have forward fireing guns is the Y-8 and thats just for mining lazers.

You bet, this is a dead horse. =)
We are not going to get a forward gun because the whole concept of an MP ship is that it be just that, multi player. As soon as you fit it with a forward gun, it can be turned into a big fighter. It would just violate the design concept, so it'll never happen. =)

It has been stated before, during and post beta. The Falcon is the result of years of modifying, first by Lando, then by Chewie and Han. In-game, we're flying a stock YT-1300 on which we can slap some basic modifications.
Do you really want to get up to the same level of modification where pushing a button shorts half the ship?

I owuld think my super-heavily modded YT would come close to that of the Falcon. But there is no way to get even close to it's ability by this design.
Hopefully the MP ship parts are more nimble so we can get turning like we should.

peosonaly i think that sience the yt has one less launcher than the other 2 ships it should get a forward gun as compensation

HOLY CRAP IS EVERYONE BLIND? I DID NOT ASK FOR THE FRONT WEAPON I JUST POINTED IT OUT AS AN OBSERVATION.

Lets make it clear, dont have nothing constructive or dont want to have a grown conversation about an observation then dont freaking post! The damn title of this post is clear enough and if you dont want to discuss this then DONT. But other people would love to point out that yeah there was a gun in the front of that ship yet other people would argue that there wasnt.....
