well, Ive been playing JtLS for a few months now and Im starting to lose the initial joy I felt while playing this expansion. Anyway, after much thought and jotting down of ideas Ive decided to put this together.


MORE SHIPS


Well, Im a little ticked at the number of ships in the game and having been a massive fan of the X-Wing series of games Ive begun to really grind my teeth at seeing the same ships over and over again. Here is some others Id rather see.


Fighters

Need more cool fighters. Even if we cant get to fly them at least have them flying around to be shot at!!!


R-41 Starchaser - favoured by freelance mercenary groups and pirates alike.

T-wing -

Razor Fighter - Used by many mercenary groups and by corporate guards escorting transports and freighters

Planetary Fighter - Used as planetary defense fighters

Cloakshape Fighter - old clunky design favoured by pirates and down on there funds mercs

Authority IRD fighters - often used as station patrol and defense fighters.

Preybird - Awesome looking design for a ship.

Skipray Blastboat - Great multi-role craft. Why isnt this in the damn game for the neutrals? Its requires a crew of 3 to run effectively and would be super cool.

Supa Fighter - meant to be a black sun ship. Apparantly anyway. Heavy armor and shields and a turret


Capital Ships

Great! So the only capital ship in the damn game is the ImpStar Deuce in deepspace and the Rebel frigate at Endor. BORING!!!


Victory-class Stardestroyers - Why are they not in the game? Thier an integral part of the Imperial navy. We get barely enough Star Destroyers as it is.

Carrack-class medium cruiser

Dreadnought Heavy Cruiser

Interdictor cruisers

MC80 Mon Cal cruisers

MC60 Lulsla-Class mon cal cruisers

Lancer-class Frigate - these are meant to be the imperial answer to snub fighter attacks. Deadly to fighters. Rebels should see one of these baby's drop into the system and go, "Oh Crap, time to get out of here".


Freighters

So far frieghters all look the damn same. Its getting boring. Come on, we need more art. I want to be able to think, "Yeah shouldnt be too hard this escort mission cause an Xiytiar transports got forward guns, just need to watch the rear".

Add some variety devs!!

Need more freighters to make it feel like theres a real galaxy around us filled with different and competing shipyards vyeing for sales!


More Atmosphere


STATIONS


Well, Its amazing how every station in the glaxy is made by the same company. It just doesnt ring true for me. It takes away from the atmosphere of the game and detracts from the exoticness of the different locales. Kind of like how it ticks me off that all the Starports, Cantinas and hospitals in the ground game have identical floor plans. *sigh*


Heck why even use spacestations as landing points. If Yavin IV is currently under blockade why not have a Star Destroyer in orbit that you have to either dodge or talk your way around to land on the planet. I thought that Dantooine was a fairly undeveloped world with no real starports or spacestations, but hey, Ican see a ImpStar in orbit from the ground, why not make that a landing station?


X-wing alliance had some great looking stations, like the Cargo facilities and the Colony space stations, the Golan defense platforms. I just dont see a world as important as Corellia having no Defense platforms, Orbital Shipyards or cargo facilities.



SYSTEMS


Corellia - A world renowned for its shipyards. Not a shipyard in sight. Let alone the sort of defenses such a world would require.


Naboo - The Emperors homeworld. When I look up at the nightsky of naboo, I can see Stardestroyers in Orbit. No sign of them when Im flying though.


Yavin IV - Im sorry but didnt someone say this world was currently under Imperial blockade. Isnt the empire trying to round up the last rebels who havnt managed to escape the planet yet. Seems to me all the rebels have to do is hie to the nearest outpost and take a transport to where ever they want.


MORE IMMERSION


And here we have my biggest gripe of all. Nothing happens in space....ever that makes me feel like im part of a bigger galaxy. Anyway hers a few ideas to add to the atmosphere (or lack there of in vaccum) of the space game.


*Have transports fly near to stations and drop off cargo containers and/or pick new containers up

*Have tugs fly from the stations/cargo depots, pick up the containers and bring them back to the station

*Have pirates leap into the system and make an attempt at capturing cargo by disabling freighters or sneaking off with cargo containers while fighters distract the local guards

*Have stations launch defensive fighters if attacked or in response to players raiding shipping

*Allow players to raid shipping, whether its disabling a transport, docking with it and maiking off with its cargo or attempting to steal it from a cargo station

*Have stations give us missions where a pirate space base is created for us to hunt down and destroy. Give said base defenses, turrets, fighters, minefields, whatever.

*Allow us to land at spacestations and walk around the station visiting the ammenities, like cantinas or gambling dens. I dunno!

*Freighter missions, for those with transports, to dock with containers and safely deliver it to a location. Attacks from pirates may occur. If its illegal goods, imperials may decide to inspect it.

*If Imperial NPC patrols start getting blasted, they should send tougher reinforcements with possible light capital ship support.

*The same should go for rebels.

*Assualts should occur on Imperial/Rebel stations by Rebel/imperial forces. You can help out whichever side you favour.

*You could have it so that when you declare your faction at a faction spacestation, you can choose to become a pilot for that staions garrison. This could show up on the space information screen allowing people to know which station is currently garrisoned. If that staion is attacked you'll recieve requests for assistance.

*Actual missions where a certain resource is currently needed and you have to go raid opposing faction shipping to obtain it. Weapons, Minerals, Information.

*Blend Ground game with the sapce game. Have multi leg missions, where you recieve a mission on the ground to go hit a ship for some information/resource/whatever, then return to the ground and deliver it to a certain location on the gound.


Right now the game is just same old same old.

More variety is needed

all great ideas..


my guess is that there is a team still devoted to JTL. but new artwork and balancing on this scale takes a LOT of time. i imagine a good number of these ideas we'll see one day, just may take a while for them to come to be.

All those features would be great but unfortunately they will need to be added 1 at a time.

With that in mind, here is my to do list for the devs:

1. Fix Droid Programs. WO3 is very bugged and in general they do not stress the components enough. They are too effective atm.
2. PvP damage - Is too high, only reason this comes second is because droid commands are affecting this damage in a big way.
3. Deep space Battleground. Once you make ace there should be a battleground that has a huge battle that any player can jump into and participate in. Right now deep space is a spawn farm. Need to make objectives that need to be met by players in order to affect the outcome of the battle.

All that other stuff is great but until there is something to do up there fixing anything makes no sense.

I would love to see new ships, but before we get them in, we really need our ship limit increased. For people like me, having more ships will do us no good because we'll be at our ship limit already, and we wont be able to take another. Four or five ships is really all we need.


Space stations we could dock with and walk around would be awsome. Earth & Beyond had this and it would be extremly cool if SWG did too. It was fun in E&B to watch the little animation, land in the space station and walk around it. Inside you could chat with people, take missions, craft, and other things. There was even secret disco rooms. It was alot of fun, and something that JtL is really lacking.

1. All those astroids and How to mine disks floating around and not one ore is coming from space.

2. Fighter squadrons are limited in scope. I want to be able to sit in my Multiplayer ship, or heaven forbid CAPITAL ship
and cordinate a strike against.....one ImpStarDuce?

3. I can take out a player in 3 shots, but I need to circle jerk for 3 min against a Z95 around endor?

4. Millions of Wasted Prestigue points and not a capital ship to buy them with.....

5. Player bases.

6. 40 Rebels taking off at once into space from Bestine and no thinks anythings up?

I believe I posted comments that are basically the same under teh pvp damage focus thread on the pilots forum. I'm jsut trying to get the word out to more ppl by posting it under JTL discussion as well. I think more ppl read this thread for pilot issues as it comes sooner on the list.

How about having local police forces ie:RSF, CorSec patrol the loal space around thier respective homeworlds and conduct scans on cargo, or fly into break up disputes between players and NPC ships. I saw this done nicely in Freelancer.


How about after racking up enough bad faction with say, Black Suns, or Hutts, Bounty Hunter ships start coming after you. Again this was used in the game Freelancer to great effect!

Don't forget about the Nebula B frigates, won't even comment about the team that currently and did designdesigns except for they should be fired and replaced.


And PvP damage is right, PvE dmg is too low andgunboats and capital ship turrets are too acturate, the Death Star in the first movie had to launch fighters becuase the the fighters were to small for the turrets and when the ties attacked the Y-Wings they were destroyed within 2-3 shots.
