preference is a big part of it. I like the Awing the best.

First of all, no ship is better than any other. Each one has a tactical role to play.

Z95 Headhunter (starter ship)- 1 gun, 1 ordnance, 12k mass (don't use it)

Awing (tier 4)- fast interceptor fighter, 1 gun, 1 ordnance slot, 65k mass

Ywing (tier 1)- heavy fighter - 1 gun controlled by pilot, 1 turret for copilot, 2 ordnance slots, 150k mass

Ywing LP (tier 2)- heavy fighter - 2 guns, 2 ordnance slots, 170k mass

Xwing (tier 3)- multirole fighter - 3 guns, 2 ordnance slots, 100k mass

Bwing (master)- heavy bomber (capital ship killer) - 4 guns, 2 ordnance slots, 240k mass

Nova Courier (master)- multiperson "gunship", 2 turrets (top and bottom), 3 ordnance slots, 5 million mass

The imperial and freelance ships have similiar balances of ship types.

Know thy ship and know thy enemy. Use the right ship for the job and it's "all to easy."

Yes what he said above, don't get caught up in the trap when people say 'master ship'. It's all about how you wanna fly, and what roll you are playing in a group.

Exactly what those two said! There is no "best ship". It's only what you're best at. If you're best at flying around, zipping here and there, dodging fire and doing a little damage of your own, then the A-Wing is probably for you. If you're best at strength bombing, heavy armor and going in with all weapons blasting (like me), then the B-Wing is for you. If you want something a little more manuverable but with less firepower and mass, but still can take a beating and deal outa fairly good one, go for the Longprobe. If you'd like a nice middle-class ship, so to speak, that can take a good amount of damage, deal a decent amount and can be fairly zippy, the X-Wing is probably good.

A lot of people complain that the B-Wing is a bad ship because it's so slow. But if you're like me and good with heavy-weapons and slower speeds, you can turn it into a pretty good starfighter with enough practice.

Based on what Starson said, I added tier numbers to my original post so you know when you are certified for the various ships.

A little more strategy for you.

Awing - I use the 92.2 nerfed engine and do not overload it. Now that it decays, i wanna keep it around until I loot something better. 1300 strength shields to save mass for a bigger blaster (around 2900 damage).

Xwing/Ywing LP - I use around a 75 speed lightweight (like 20k mass) engine I looted, andboost it with engineoverload 3. Use a lightweight good energy/regen capacitor and use overload 4. 1800ish strength shields. Lightweight booster (around 25 speed).

Bwing - same engine as in X/Ywing, overloaded again. 4 big guns and a monster capacitor (around 1000 energy, 44 regen rate)overloaded again. 2400 strength shields and mark 4 or 5 crafted armor.

I loot enough decent stuff that when something decays from enemy fire or overloading, I have a backup I can put back in.

My alt is a 4/4/4/4 neutral pilot. I have to do the final tier 4 smuggler's alliance mission before the 2 kessel missions. Based on my experience, I think that the Dunelizard and Ixiyenare comparable to an Xwing,

the Kirzhax (spelling?) compares to an Awing,

the Kimogila compares to a Ywing,

and theRihzyyrk compares to a Bwing.

Its a matter of preference. Personally i love the Longprobe, but a lot of people here will tell you the x-wing or a-wing.

the best rebel ship is the z95 headhunter and has about 11k mass, sony screwed up big time here, it shoudl have at least 110k if not 150k since it is such a good ship in the star wars universe. other than that the a-wings or x-wings do the best for the rebels, b-wings are great for bombing down a group of TIEs but that is about it. as far as this game is concerned id go with the A-wing but then again im an imperial pilot and have no business suggesting what a rebel pilot should use.

I love flying my A-wing, but for everyday killing I use my Longprobe. I didn't like the X-wing when I got it. Now it is just sitting deeded in my backpack. Can't wait to try out a B-wing.

Huh? What are you talking about? The Z-95 Headhunter is a pretty old ship. The X-Wing was designed to eventually replace it.

Personally if I have to choose what ships I like best, it'd be in this order.

y-wing LP

x-wing

b-wing

a-wing

don't like the regular y-wing or the z-95 (although the z-95 is our best manuevarable ship...haha it has the best PYR of all the rebel ships, but the mass kills it)

anyway, there is no clear cut best because it depends on your situation......for any solo player doing missions by yourself....there is no ship better than a Longprobe or b-wing. The mass on them allows you to equip the best of the best equipment....so you can get the best firepower and the best shields and armor.

If you fly in a group, then it's all a matter of what your going up against.....however, if your group is large enough, then any ship is the best simply because your a small part of a greater whole.....you'll have a roll and others will have theirs....

Finally, for solo or group, droid commands will make any ship way better.....my personal preference is the longprobe. I feel that it's better than a x-wing or a-wing....sure they have manueverability, but with droid commands, you can make a longprobe as manueverable as an x-wing as long as you have the right engines......then you'll still have 170k mass to outfit your ship with the best components......see if you use droid commands to boost an a-wing or x-wing....you still suffer from a lack of mass and therefore you are restricted from having the best of the best ship components......

Also, manueverability is not a big deal in this game.....everything is based on how good the components are....it's about how much damage you can do or how much you can take......because no matter how fast or how manueverable you are, your still gonna get hit and get hit hard.

Anyway, it's a matter of which craft feels comfortable to you...because I value shields and great guns above all else.....that takes lots of mass....so I must use the LP or b-wing (although, I hate the aim of the b-wing, but it can take a beating like no other...)

I think both the scyk and Z95 should have about 50k-70k mass. The TIE/ld could use another 10k mass.
