I agree.
In addition to that you dont have to wait 5 mins in an overcrowded starport with irritating spammers flooding spatial with stuff like :NE 1 NO HOW 2 B A JEDI?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!!??!?!? etc.

Get over the rage and buy jtl already... I can't see how anyone could actively play and not recognise the value jtl brings and the fact that most expansion from here on out will more than likely require jtl enablement...

JTL is the best expansion for any game. But I wouldnt really use it just for going from planet to planet.

While I can see the convenience behind the insta-travel feature of JTL, and I have used it a couple times myself when I've had time constraints, I can't help but feel that JTL was designed to cater towards the "instant-gratification" crowd.
By this I mean it is possible to fly from on end of a sector in a couple minutes, all of the POIs that might have been fun to discover are already marked on the map, it is possible to micro-jump from one part of a sector to another, and then of course there is the aformentioned insta-travel feature. All of these elements detract from the "MMORPGness" and make JTL feel more like an arcade machine that you stick a quarter into.
A defining feature of MMORPGs is the journey, not being able to get somewhere in less than a minute and completean objective. Of course I'm just venting, but that's the way I see it.

Lol Rikkialamay!
Well I'm getting it for christmas, and I cannot wait until I install it (even after watching my sister unwrap her mounds upon mounds of presents).
I can understand the fast travel features though. in beta I got bored incredibly quickly when travelling through space, since its fairly empty (until you get into something interesting like an asteroid field or nebula), unlike travelling on ground where you have perspective changing scenery and NPC creatures to look at and buildings/florato interest you so i agree with the micro-jumps and (fairly) instant travel.
afterall...
In space, no one can hear you moan in boredom.
BTW WolfBloodRunner you make a good point about the less wasted time, but it cant be as bad as you make out... just how often to you forget your armor?!

what i would like tosee is a space sector for exploration that only has one hyperpoint and tons of pois. this would make flying to them emersive and interesting.... and you would actually have to fly to them. it would be like the old days, before vehicles on the ground, when exploring was fun.
i also think it would be cool to allow direct paths to only be flown by smuggler's. give the smuggler's a bone. maybe the space routes are difined by the empire and only smuggler's can take the short trip...

This message is not so I get the bag beat out of me by you all, but here is my arguement for JTL and what its worth at this point:
Worse Case senario
Lets say I want to go to Yavin4 from Lok....
I wait for a shuttle at Nym's stronghold: 5mins
I travel to Eisely, and get a shuttle to Coronet: 5mins
I travel from Coronet to Yavin4: 5mins
Then I remember I forgot my 80% kenetic armor
I travel back to Correllia: 5mins
I travel from Correllia to Tat: 5mins
I travel from Tat to Lok: 5mins
I've wasted half an hour so far.
Then I travel back from lok to Yavin 15 more minutes.
I paid roughly 30k in credits.
Given at TKM it takes me about 20mins to get 30k credits
Now I'm up to an 1 hour 5 mins
I play only 3 hours every other day, 12 hours a week, if I had to do what I listed above I would really only play for gain for 1hr 55minsa day. Keeping in mind this is the worse case senario....I'm paying 14.99 a month, 48hours a month, and in the end JTL hassaved me 17.333333 hours of playtime each month....thats $5.41 a month from actual playtime (not traveling or making money to travel) to money spent per hour.
For all of those people without JTL who won't buy it because of the vast majority of people saying it sucks, the time and money you save alone traveling or coming up with the money to travel, the 29.99 for the expansion is well worth it because it's enabling you to maximize your time spent in game. I bought JTL a day before it went live, I got 2222 in pilot within the first 2 weeks after it went live, since then I haven't played in space. I partially agree that space cannot be fun at some times, but to be honest, I would have paid more for the expansion just for the shear luxury that I can go from one side of the galaxy to the other, regardless of stops in-between in under a minute.

JtL isn't crap. But don't let anyone lie to you. It's lacking. It lacks replayabilty. It lacks depth. It feels like a very shallow experience. Now, before the emotions start and people start flaming away, allow me to put my thoughts in words. Please be honest to yourself while reading this before you respond.
I'm going to go over two sides, what I think is good and what I think is lacking with JtL.
[The Good]
1- Ship customization. I can't tell you how amazing the game feels when I'm able to piece together my own ship. From engines to shields, to capacitor. Each ship is different. I can also color my ship. Brilliant.
2- Multipassenger ships. This is by far the most amazing thing I've seen in an MMO for a long time. Having a ship that I can just fly around in space with friends is sweet.
3- Control. I can't really fault the controls. They work well.
[The Ugly]
1- Zones are too small. Seriously. I can get from one side of a sector to the other side in mere minutes. Space should be vast.
2- No content post master. Missions are nice, but what about renewable, lasting content. Things like places to actually fly your ship to.
3- Starbases. As they stand now, they're just cosmetic fluff. No form or function. It's just there to be there. This is a prime example of what wrong with this product. Too much superficial, not enough substance.

I mean, if you love it, fantastic. I could say somethign childish like: "Haha, you must be easy to please" or something rude, but why? If you enjoy SWG thus far good.
I just want to see the "next level" that the developers were hyping JtL up to be. I guess my true real problem with JtL is that it isn't nearly as deep or immiersive as the ground game. I'll list a few examples below:
1- ThreeSpace professions? Where is mining? Where is frieght? Where is space bounty hunting? When I slept, I dreamed of being a bounty hunter in space. Flying from one planet to another killing my mark. It was fantastic...in my dreams. I imagined being able to hunt marks in space using my master level multipassenger ship (ala Cowboy Bebop)
2-Multipassenger ships, yet no in-space docking. Players are creative. Many players would find great use for a feature like this. Especially those of us who would actually roleplay and would roleplay taking a journey from one multipassenger ship, then dock with another one. Merchants would have new life breathed into their classes by being able to sell items on their multi-ships and have other players be able to dock with them at will and shop.
3- Wrath of the Empire: Where are they? When I was a kid what made me "fear" the empire was their space fleet. Their star destroyers meant you turned in the other direction if you were a rebel or criminal. Where are the star destroyers. I mean, rebs outnumber imps 3:1 on most servers, giving them this type of might is justified.
4- Smuggling: I don't even need to go into details on this. It's not in space the only thing that comes to mind when I realize that is: w...t.....f.....?
