When we launch, we launch into a little box circa 20km x 20km, with the new Capital Ships coming soon, why not just unite our planet's systems and putting the ability to set your drive on auto-pilot in your POB ship?
I'd love to see an improved version of the actual "Jump to lightspeed" too, it wasn't instant in the movies, so why should it be instant in the game?
It took a while for Han Solo to get from the Tatoo-system to Alderaan, only to find it was gone. Space is too claustrophobic right now and patching together the boxes to actually create a universe would be great!
And if you're not a fan of the idea of delaying the hyper-jump, why not make people chose between an instant hyperjump and a delayed one?
It would add a lot of changes to the feel of actually riding your POB-ship to the fullest, being able to leave the cockpit and talking to your crew while you head towards your objective.
And it's time to balance out PVP in space, make it like fighting space NPCs...
I'm sick of killing my opponents in two seconds.

I think that JTL has the smallest spaces i ever saw
DEVs: take a look at "FREELANCER" from Microsoft. You can learn a many there.

I'd love it if you actually had to spend a few minutes in hyperspace, especially in POB ships with other people. But you saw the fit people threw when they couldn't Travel to Kashyyyk. To many people who refuse to wait, even when it can really add to the game experience.

And also, if Auto-pilot would be included, it would be nice to just have this long moment on silence, and then!
OUT OF NOWHERE!
A SCREEN OF ANGRY NPC PILOTS SHOW UP TO DESTROY YOU!
And you say:
WHAT HAPPENED!?
And your co-pilot says:
SOMEONE SET US UP THE BOMB!
WE GET SIGNAL!
And you say:
What!?
And your co-pilot says:
MAIN SCREEN TURN ON
And you say:
IT'S YOU!
And then the angry pilot NPC says:
How are you gentlemen?
All your base are belong to us!
You are on the way to destruction!
And then you say:
WHAT YOU SAY!?!?
And then the angry pilot NPC says:
You have no chance to survive made your time...
...hah hah hah...
ALL YOUR BASE
YOUR BASE
BASE BASE
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US

Well, space could be a bit bigger (and now there are all these mining asteroids as well). EReally weird to see them around Tatooine, even though movies never show them there ...
As for the hyperspace wait time, it would be cool, but of course I was also one who always liked the shuttle wiat times when they were 5 min as it was always good to have a chat at the starport ... oh well, I guess we will never see that hyperspace time, but if they follow the original post suggestion we could at least travel between stars for a lot longer if we wanted too

i like the EVE online system.
in eve, you ship had a warp drive that took you to just under the speed of light, and then there were jump gates that transported you between systems (some ships could have jump drives though)
the star systems were HUGE, spanning many astronomical units (one AU is the distance from theearth to the sun), and if you wanted you could travel with normal propulsion at about 3km/s (in a REALLY fast ship), but it would take you forever. to get around, you would hit your warp drive and move from one side of the system to the other in under a minute, watching as the stars and its planets fly past.

Speaking of Eve, how's that game doing these days?
I think i need a new space kick, I hadn't logged in all day yesterday, and logged in this mornign for a whole 10 mins before i typed in /quit and logged out. heh.

No no, not a bit, a lot bigger... I want to be able to go to another system through just driving on and on for 30 minutes...

Not really absurd, but rather realistic. I don't know how far Naboo is from Corellia in the official Star Wars universe as envisioned by Lucas, but even if it were right next door on the galactic scale,it would still take impossibly long to travel from one system to another with justsublight engines. The McGuffin that Lucas uses for inergalactic travle (to get around the Einstienian model ofour physical universeas we know it) is the hyperdrive engine, and since we are playing in his universe, we play by his rules; We don't have Trekesque warp engines.
I do agree though that the space sectors need to be a lot larger than what we have been given.

Hyperdrives aren't supposed to be equipped on all ships are they?
That is if we go back to the Star Wars theory...

The ships that don't have them (Z95s, most TIEs) require larger transport ships (like Star Destroyers) to move between systems. It is too far to fly from one system to another with sub-light engines.
