if i were to decide to go rebel instead of imp, will i keep the xp that i haven't used yet? i have 400k xp and wanted to go rebel since the imp ships seem to be lacking, but before i do wanted to double check that i could keep the xp.

As a neutral pilot you can kill just about anything without getting as much aggro on you as an Imperial or Hippie pilot. When I did neurtal pilot I ground out the whole 2nd tier in a night in Lok hunting Tier 3 blood razors. They wont aggro on you and that will allow you to take them out one at a time. While this may not be as fast as manning a turret for someone, it is certainly much much faster then duty missions. Always hunt a tier higher then what you are for good xp.

The absolute fastest way to work through the early tiers of pilot is to find someone with a POB ship, and hop into a gun turret or the ops chair (if you are correctly aligned). They'll be up against much bigger things than you would, and your XP will go through the roof.

Im a 4333 smuggler alliance pilot. I have been grinding XP and it seems to take forever. I got a nice Bub-22 ship, but it seems it will take me years just to get enough XP for another 4 skill. Anyone got the inside track on speeding up the xp growth? (And yes i know i should have been grinding instead of goofing around during double XP) Surely there is some better XP out there than killing those firesprays and chasing those wiley little interceptors.......
Thanks!

Tier 4 duty mission (destroy types) are usually both good XP and good training. Tier 4 is a nasty one, just sorta have to slug through it.
Gunboats in Kessel are nice, if you can find them.
