Thread: Corellian Corvette is not a cap ship.

Ok as I understand, they have not said much about how the cap ships would work. But I would like to put this out there.

If Imps get SD's then Rebels should get ships other than the Corellian Corvette. The Vette is an escort ship, it does not have a fighter bay. It does not have large amounts of weapons etc.

It would be nice to see ships more comparable to the SD's (though there are not any really unless you count the lost fleet and the ships from episode 1-3).

Ships that I would like to see that would be more in-line with capital ships are the Mon Cal cruisers, (smooth sided ships, oviod shaped) and the Nebulon B frigget. The NebB is the type of ship that Luke had his hand replaced on in ep 5. That was a medical frigget, but they also had combat roles.

Both of these ships are larger than Vettes, have fighter bays, and many more turrets than the Vette.

Just my 2 credits.

The Medical Frigate was the name of one of the Cal Cruisers at the battle of Endor. This is confirmed by the Essential Guide to Vessels and Vehichles.

The frigate that Luke was in at the end of 5 is a Nebulon-B frigate which is a medium capital ship that is for combatting both fighters and other capital ships.

The Corvette IS a capital ship. A capital ship is defined by being over 100 meters long (I believe it is 100, if not, it is less than that). It is a small capital ship designed for anti-starfighter use, which is why they are a challenge to us.

In the movies, the corvette only has two guns, but in the X-wing series of games there are modified corvettes that closely resemble those in JTL.

Also, Cal Cruisers, at this point in the game timeframe, have not yet been invented.

im pretty sure your mistakin about one of the mon cal cruisers being called the medical frigate, as well, clearly a mon cal cruiser is not a frigate =P also, i have the EGTV&V and i see no mention of one of the cal cruisers ever being called the medical frigate, also in the GCN rogue squad game (the first one, i forgot what it is called) they are constantly calling the neb-b the medical frigate. i reamember in the battle of endor mission, i was always getting the neb-b blown up and wedge was always saying, protect that medical frigate >.<

Imperial players may be able to enter a Star destroyer, but I doubt they will be able to control one. I see Frigates as what we will be allowed to control.

for the last time we arent getting ISD's, where did that come from, the most we can hope for is the corvette. An ISD is 1.6km's long and requires 1000's of people to operate it would be like trying to make corescent its impossible, i dont even think there is that many npc's on the planets we have now. and as for 1.6 km's worth of details and artwork you would be lucky if we get to stand on the bridge. The Corvette we will get, the artwork's already there, but an SD is far fetched.

you sir, are incorrect. the medical frigate in RotJ was in fact a mon cal cruiser.

and um, whoever said that mon cals hadnt been invented yet... well they had. the thing is, the rebel alliance wasnt using them yet. the Mon Cal themselves were not using them for military purposes. The Mon Cal cruisers, were existing cruisers that were outfitted for military duty when Mon Calamari joined the rebel alliance.

BTW... can you imagine running around inside a corellian corvette? you would spend 5 minutes just getting to one part of your ship and another 5 minutes gettin back to pilot it. it would be rediculous, and i dont think all that fun.

*confused* Is that from the novelization or radio drama? Cause I just popped in the movie and saw this:

Interior Shot: X-Wing cockpt: Wedge: "They're heading for the Medical Frigate."

Exterior Shot: Space: X-wings chase TIE fighters flying towarda Nebulon-B starship, destroying a few

Exterior Shot: Space: The Falcon weaves around the Nebulon, blows a TIE, and flies through the debris.

I've blasted some of those ovoid lookin cruisers in Vader's final mission of the Eta-actis quest. They weren't any bigger than the rebel gunboat, but the model is in-game.

w-t-f, the mon cal? dood mon cals were slightly smaller than ISD's. if SOE did them no bigger than gunships then they need pimpslapped

and umm... well i never really read all those books... never went out and bought them, but i really want to lol. only one i have to quote is the Essential Guide

also. in my quote, Medical Frigate is italicized. this means that it is a NAME of a ship. the ship the nebulon-b is turned into is the term 'medical frigate' in general, not a specific noun. im thinkin two seperate things here?

I tend to agree that the Medical Frigate was in fact the Nebulon-B Escort Frigate seen in the film, though why you'd bring an under armed support ship into battle is beyond me.

One thing is though that they did call Home One, which according to sources is large enough to be classed as a battleship!!, the Headquarters "frigate". If you doubt the clasification remember the Rebels knew they'd have to face at least one Super Star Destroyer, Han and Leia were not surprised to see the Executor at Endor so they must have had enough firepower in their fleet to hold the small defence force as well as attack the Death Star, it's only when an entire fleet appears are they in serious trouble.

At this time frame most if not all Mon Calamari Cruisers would appear as luxury star liners, massive colony ships etc, they were civilian ships later mounted with weapons, shields and hangers and used as warships.
