Note: For those of you who cannot find your friends in space, even when you launch from the same starport, please read Knowledge Base Article # 10426, which will explain the reason for this petition.

Dear those involved,

Be it resolved that we, the undersigned, respectfully question the logic in notallowing members of a group formed on the ground to be automatically placed in the same Space Zone. Playing with friends being a primary component of any MMORPG, the current Random Space Zone Placing hinders the game in the following ways:

  • Guild Activities are difficult to plan (participants must land and relaunch many times to get in the zone with their guild mates, this is ridiculous)

  • Hunting with friends is similarly unreasonably difficult

  • General Frustration of not being able to find your friends in space

We see and understand the reason for having Zones, but are unsatisfied with the implementation. Again, with the main point of having an online game being the ability to play with your friends, Players who launch into space as a group should all placed in the same Space Zone! Otherwise, JTL might as well be a single-player game.

Sincerely,

the undersigned

I believe they are very MUCH aware of this problem, don't be so dramatic.

problem? If you read the article it doesn't seem to state it as a problem. This was a thought out bug.

An egregious one at that

just read the knowledge base article about this. plain stupidity.... so it's easier for them to instance the zones to relieve lag instead of maybe just improve the servers or net code? I guess they don't care if the people paying their bills are happy....

Knowledge Base Article 10426:

"How come I can't find my friend in space?"

To decrease latency due to large populations clustered in the "new player" areas, a system of zone instancing has been implemented. For each of these areas, there are two possible zones and players entering the area will be randomly shunted into either of them.

To those players that are traveling or are grouped with others, there is currently no means in which to choose which zone you will be sent to. Leaving and then re-entering the area will allow another chance that your character is put into the same zone as your group members.

This should have been fixed long before release, it breaks the whole multiplayer aspect of the game. I see nothing wrong with letting them know we want it fixed.

PS: they are like separate servers in a way, you can't regroup with your group members.

We complained abou this in beta and they realeased the game anyway. Pretty bad for a company that constantly tries to encourage grouping...

I agree. I've tried 20 times to load into the same "server" as my friend that I was grouped with to help him on a mission and could not meet up with him.

At least allow grouped players to load into the same "server/zone".

/sign This was one of the stupidest things I have seen implemented, no wonder I see less people in space than I think are there. If you can't deal with MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER then get out of the business, I don't see planetside making instanced zones, it defeats the purpose of the FPS style.
