I take it that the S-Foils not opening are a bug created in Publish 12, and not just poor developer work? Also what is a decent mass on the B-Wing? I just got ace last night.....wanted a B-wing since it was announced in JTL concept days...... Also shouldn't the b-wing respond better, and be faster then the X-wing since its the Ace Boxed fighter?

The B Wing graphics error is a pain. It look horrible flying in attack position with the foils closed.... but it is not supposed to be as fast or manuverable as the X wing. The B Wing is a bomber type of ship.. I heavy hitter... thus the large mass. The xwing is a dog fighter.

however i do believe it should have better handling than a Ywing.. which it doesn't.

B-Wing is a bomber, not a quick starfighter. Hence the high mass which is capable of carrying higher mass equipment (though I still don't have enough mass
). Despite this, with a good engine, it's still pretty fast.
The bug that keeps the wings opened/closed is really annoying, and I only hope it's fixed soon...

The wings make it fish-tail a lot. But with practice, it can become a pretty good starfighter

I'm not a bomber pilot anyway I prefer the dogfight. I'll be on you six in my Xwing making sure you STAY ON TARGET..

Part of the reason I chose the B-wing, is to aide others in getting their Ace skill. Since almost all of the fighters that helped me were x-wings....we had to blast our way through the vette's shields....if we had an assault craft like the b-wing that could just bomb the crap out of it, we could get it done much faster. And I do think that it should be better then the Y-wing as for my misshap on the manuvuer and speed, i got it confused with the a-wing......give me a break I was up till server restart working on my b-wing(Just got Ace last night got a b-wing with 243k mass)

The B-wing may be a bomber, but I still think it needs to maneuver better than it does. In the canon, it was intended to replace the Y-wing's role in the Alliance starfleet, and was considered to be superior in every way (except of course, for the fact that it was a bear to learn how to fly it). In the X-Wing series of games (which, according to Lucasarts is considered canon) the B-wing was right between the Y- and X-wing in speed and maneuverability.
However, as far as balancing purposes go, the devs probably made the B-wing maneuver like a brick because of its other advantages, such as the four weapon ports and high mass. Any more maneuverability and it would probably spank any other fighter out there. I will say that with practice (and EO3), you can be fairly nimble using it once you get the hang of it.

Don't get cought up in the misconception that the ship you get at Master is better than the others, it is just different. The Bwing was designed to be a cap ship killer, not a fighter, so no it is not as fast as the X. One example I can think of is the pirates (oops I mean privateers) get their fast little a-wing type ship at tier 1 or 2, while us Reb.'s have to wait untill tier 4.

According to Lucasarts, only four things are considered "canon". They are the films, the screenplays, the film novelizations, and the radio dramas. Everything else, generally known as the EU (Extended Universe),is just officially licensed material, andis not "canon". Lucasarts does make some effort to maintain consistency between all the non-canon material, howeverLucasarts will allow contradictions or wholesale rewriting of EU material if it is deemed to make a better product. Furthumore, when it comes to determining what EU material should take precedence over other EU material, Lucasarts generally considers the various video games to be at the bottom of the pile.

I've posted this before elsewhere, but if you land with the B-Wing in the fighting position, the wings will be (stuck) open when you launch next. They close on jumping, however. That said, I don't think the B-Wing as a master ship really rates when compared to the neutral's Krayt. The Krayt may be butt ugly, but it manuevers and has a mass that makes it the peach of the neutral ships. I don't know if they wanted avoid rebs from trending towards one particular ship, but I don't think I'll ever fly anything else on my neutral, other than my YT-1300 when I want to go MP.
