Thread: Will space PvP damage change ?

Well technically it's not a 1 shot battle but it can be a 1 second battle. And I think most players feel 1 second to be a bit low to be considered a win/loss. Blasters fire as many as 3 times per second so if you get jumped by someone he can probably land 3 shots before you even know what is happening, which imo makes PvP combat in this game really frustrating for most players.

There are a few things that should be adjusted prior to changing pvp damage.

1. Wpn overload 3 is way out of wack. It needs to take the required energy from reactor and juice from the capacitor when in use. Right now it doesn't, in fact it makes the weapons more efficient and doubles there fire power. If wpn overload 3 is fixed so that players have to plan for the extreme use of reactor and capictor when using this program the dmg problem might be fixed without chaning pvp damage more.

2. Reactor overloads and capacitor overloads. Short of taking a bite out of your armor when you turn them on, there is no negative to using them. These programs need a negative or fixing wpn overload 3 makes no difference. I would like to see these programs keep eating away at your component at the rate of X (X being their level) per minute to both points and armor. As soon there is enough dmg to reduce performance the programs get disabled. Parts still function but if you want these programs to continue you need to turn them on again. Another option is to restrict each faction to using only their droid programs.

I hope things change in Space soon, because it's getting really old seeing such a simple problem wreck any hope of this game having more players.

I don't see 30+ second PvP battles as fun, but thats cause I'm used to 1-5 second firefights found in games like BF'42,StarwarsBattlfront, and Planetside. But yea I agree with the second poster on the obvious fixes this crap needs.

As it is right now, if this was to become true, no one would ever die, or at the least, it would take 30 mins to an hour to kill someone, if ever.

I suggest you play more, PvP more, and learn more about JTL before you start making suggestions of your own.

Umm Ducimus...I played this game more than you and I have double piloting mastery. No it will not be 30 minutes battle, it will be 2-5 minutes battle like in SW. Due to the faults of current system there are no one in space PvPing. If combat will become more engaging people will be PvPing. Its just dumb when in PvE fighting TIER5 gunboat or decimator it takes much more time than fighting the PvP decimator.

Umm Volvo, Duc knows what he's talking about. You made a very bad suggestion and Duc just pointed it out. I agree with Duc and think you should get out more and pvp.. just because you mastered twice does not make you an expert.

Don't suppose you bother to read Ducimus' sig? Pretty sure he's played more than you, and pretty sure you should pay closer attention to the discussions in Pilot to get the general feeling about PvP issues. Ducimus pretty much has it nailed. There's a fine line between too fast an mindlessly long and boring.

1. Anyone flying overt and getting jumped by another overt deserves it - scanning for enemy pilots is part of space pvp. People to lazy to do that should not get a second chance thanks to damage reduction.

2. Anyone saying fights only last 1 second - learn to fly, and learn to space pvp. I am not the greatest pilot or pvper, but if I can last in a fight then so can anyone. People who think they can use PvE tactics in pvp don't deserve to be heard when they whine about getting nuked.

3. Learn to fly and aim, don't whine for another stupid messed up "I need uber loot to win" pvp game like the ground. And for those who think space pvp is one vs one:Go fly in a battle where 30+ players go at each other, then you can see what space pvp in Star Wars is like. If you want 5 minutes dogfights, install some level 3 gun and go at a friend in a duel.

4. Don't mess up asystem that's perfectly fine for a twitch gamejust because you can't adapt from space pve or ground pvp to space pvp. Learn to evade, jinx, dodge and fly and aim instead of whining for some shield vs blaster game.

QFE. Large-scale space PVP is an entirely different game, one which really needs to be experienced to see the potential of the present system.

This is why the game is going downhill. People that tell other ppl they need to shut up and quit whining blah blah blah....Until you pay for everyones game on this server they are allowed to express there opinions....all points made on this post are completely valid. Somethings need to be changed. As everyone can see you have one half that say that the fights dont last long and the other half that say that they are just fine were they are which in turn means there needs to be some sort of improvement somewhere or everyone would be agreeing and this post would of never been made.

The response that said learn to fly and aim. Not much to learn there since its twitched based. You have a huge crosshair in front of your ship..just shoot within that area and you hit your target. They just need to balance it out some. I think the biggest issue most ppl want to see fixed is the damage issue. Curve the damage some. Not everyone can play all the time and when they do they want to last longer than a few shots in PVP. Now i know you real world physics ppl who like to apply real world standards to everything, and then the book readers that always say "well in the books blah blah" This is a game where creative License is applied on a regular basis. Ships dont need to explode from a few hits. They need to be able to take some damage. For you real world enthusiasts. If a ship can fly as fast as these do and hyper jump and the acceleration as these do then these ships are majorly hardcore and a few "blaster" shots shouldnt be able to destroy it. For you book readers out there. This isnt the books this is a game. Some of the elements from the books have been placed into this game but thats all. This is a game not a Book.

You can flame all you want on me and everyone else who agrees with me. Its just a matter of common sense that there is something wrong with Space PVP or there wouldnt of been all these posts about the subject. Granted ppl are gonna complain about something reguardless of what changes have been made but this issue does need some looking into.

It's common sense that if they're complaining there must be something wrong, but it may well be that they haven't gotten enough experience with PVP yet to see where those of us who like it are coming from. It may also mean that it's perfect for some and highly imperfect for others, but there's no way to balance it such that both sides are satisfied.

I would like to see some very careful testing of the effects of a minor damage reduction, perhaps up to 20-25%. However, I'm not convinced that would make things better, or that just because people are complaining necessarily means there's a problem or that it needs to be fixed. I'd just like to see whether that would improve gameplay for those who currently dislike it without removing the foundation for what makes so many of us love it.

If you think that you can just aim where the crosshairs are then you seriously need to learn how to fly and aim in space pvp.

Oh, and for those "ships need to take a few hits" guys: Ships already take a few hits, and cap to shield works wonders. I spent 5 to 10 minutes once in a one on one vs an A-Wing, with cap to shield keeping me alive. If we had done less damage we'd still be at it.
