Thread: Droid interfaces usefull or a waste of mass and energy

Im a tier 4-4-4-3 imp pilot and i have not used or needed to use a droid interface with the extra commands. Is this really a benfecial componet to have and are the commands you can program that detrimental to combat. In my oppinion its a waste off mass and energy that could be used for a good blaster or engine.
Thoughts?
Get a tier 1 Droid Interface (low mass... speed isn't that big of a deal.)
Get yourself a flight computer v3 or above.
I use Engine Overload and Weapon Overload all the time. Believe me it makes a difference. Only issue is that those programs of course take capacitor energy to load. So I always try to leave 3-4k of my energy unused.
If you don't it may disable your 2nd weapon or launcher when activated.

I use the engine overload and weapon overload as well.
Talking about flight computers, is it best to upgrade them as I can't see why a v2 is better than a v1, can anyone tell me if it is worth updrading these ??
I believe the higher you go, the more commands it can hold. I have a v6 FC, and I can stuff about 8 to 10 commands in it.

A good blaster or engine might not actually be better than a poor blaster or engine on overload.
Just get a tiny level 1 droid interface, speed is not that important unless you intend to use lots of rebel and freelancer commands. With easy access to the imperial droid commands, you'll soon wonder how you could live without these nifty commands.

Even if you have to use a slightly larger reactor to run those programs, you can always use Reactor Overload 3 or 4 to make up the extra required energy.
And in fact, you probably won't even need a larger reactor, a slightly smaller one will work because of these programs!
For a while in Tier 1 I kept a droid interface in my Tie Fighter just for the heck of it. I don't even have any commands to use. I still do because there's nothing else to fit in my ship with that size. Until I get a new ship with more mass to handle big parts I just leave it in there.
I must be one of the craziest people ever.
