Thread: Sort the mass out!

This is the way the game works.
If looted stuff was that good than ship wrights would go out of business.

Soooooo Sony make you play JTLS, right?
MMORPGS do change over time, as the players get smarter the devs make the game harder. The only exception I have seen to this rule is Asherons Call 1, which was p1ss easy to start with and just got easier as they hardly ever fixed the exploits. As a result it was BORING.

it doesn't increase if you fly in the exact same direction, but it does increase if you doesn't, /matchspeed works, u just don't know how to use it.

I am curently 4-4-4-3 Rebel Pilot and for a least the last week and 1/2 I have not gottenn 1 piece of loot I could put in an actual fighter. The loot I am getting normallly has really bad stats like Level 8 Engines with 49 speed and 30,000 Mass(That would take up 1/2 an A-Wing) it is pathetic! Not once have I found an engine of Speed over 73 and those ones again have such insane mass its impossible to put them in a fighter without making the rest of the equipment you put in Level 2-3 stuff.Where are people finding 90+ Speed engines with a Mass low enough to put into there Fighters? I am Rebel with a 100,000 Mass X-Wing and I would hate to be Imperial god knows how they cope. The only decent Engines I have is the 79 Speed Reward Engine and a 74 Speed RE with just 3000 Mass (I got these from my Guilds Shipwright not built with any of the loot I found) which I think is great for an A-Wing which is what I have put it in. But seriously could it be made a little easier to find about 90 Speed Engines with about 10,000 Mass and Pitch/Yaw/Roll in the 60's?I don't mind having to save up engines to RE them but when all you ever get are High Mass/Low Speed Engines you can't do anything, really I would like to see some High Mass/High Speed Engines and some Low Mass/Low Speed Engines so I can combine them but its just not hapening.Same thing goes for Blasters(The Blasters I am getting are ok actually but could do with lower masses 20-30k is ok for an X-Wing but no way I could fit them in an A-Wing), Capacitors(Have never seen a decent one, Lvl 1's are near identical to Lvl 8's but ofcourse Lvl 8's have a mass 10x bigger) and Boosters(Same as capacitors).
it's strage that almost EVERYONE is able to equip any ship, master pilots use A wings alot, and many people love it, but you cannot figure out a way to equip it means it's broken ? or it means you don't do it right ? think about it, most of us can setup an A wing, u can not...
or maybe you'd expect to fill your A wing with the best ever components ? it's all about balance, if you want a fast ship, you can't equip with most powerful equipement, and if you want a powerfull ship, it's not as fast, it's balance, otherwise what would be the point of having different handling ships ?
in beta's early days, all ships were handling about the same, it became obvious that people would only use ships with highest mass, and totally ignore the other ones, so it'd have became a "composite" type of game, everyone using the same ship and all others become obsolete.
an A wing only uses 1 blaster, so you can already save mass on the reactor, a 1.5k mass 9k energy reactor is way enough for that ship, don't use armor, use a decent shield 1.3K shield or so for 10k mass, use a low end capacitor, you only have one gun, a capacitor with 35ish recharge rate and 600ish energy is more than enough, same goes for the blaster, put in a level 5, 6 or 7 blaster in it, then put it one of those level 2 loot boosters with 1.5k energy and about 2k mass, damn why would you need a Lvl 8 reactor with 15k energy, a capacitor with 52 recharge rate for a ship with 1 gun ? forget about missiles, it's not a bomber anyway.
so what do we have ?
9k energy 2k mass reactor
1.3k energy 16k mass shield
2k mass capacitor (level 2 or 3, even level 1 are good enough for 1 gun)
1.5k mass droid interface
2k mass booster
13k mass engine
now you got a quite fully operationnal A wing using 36.5k mass
wich gives you 27.5k mass for the blaster, level 7 ones are (if my memory's good) about 18/20k mass, you'll end up with 7K remaining mass to put a small armor or a bigger shield.
what the hell is hard in that ?

Why is that hard? Well lets see maybe it is because I am not getting any loot of that quality? I know how to outfit an A-Wing I am just not getting the loot to do it. And persoanlly I would not put a booster or a droid interface in an A-Wing, rater have the room for a better engine, problem is I can't find any!

that's where you're a noob guy
instead of using a 74 speed engine with engine overload 3 wich would put you up to over 900 speed, you'd prefer using a 88 speed engine that will only put you to 880 speed.
35ish recharge rate capacitors can be bought from the bazaar
1.3k ish shields can be crafted
level 7 guns can be crafted
9k energy 1.5k mass reactors can be found from the bazaar
1.5k boosters level 2 can be found on the bazaar

This is where you stop relying on loot, and go out and earn some money and start buying good equipment for your ship from players. If you rely on stuff that you loot, then you're not going to get very far - the same applies to the ground game. Looted stuff is okay if you're only using one or two items, but if you're trying to outfit an A-Wing with entirely looted items then no wonder you're having trouble. Looted items just aren't as good as player-made items, that's the way it's always going to be and it's not going to change.

If you can't find appropriate loot, get a Tier2-3 mission from a space station. That will greatly help in finding mass appropriate loot.
My current TIE Advanced (65k mass) has a .5k tier1 droid interface (14 speed - love those original interfaces), level 2 boosters 1.5k, the 79 speed reward engine, a Tier? reactor, a Tier 7 shield, and two Tier6 guns. No armor. No launchers. It still needs lots of work, but can handle three Tier4's with ease. Given that I built her on Sunday night, that's not too bad. Mostly, she needs a better reactor (or I need to trade for some reactor overload programs.)
Things to note:
- A Tier1 booster has a 1k mass for +20 speed.
- A Tier7 booster has 10k mass for +28 speed.
Is that +8 extra speed worth it for 10 seconds if it costs an extra 9k in mass?
As for droid interfaces, unless you change settings often, dirt slow is fabulous.
As for utility, I took out a Tier3 Nova Courier with a 50k mass TIE Interceptor, solo, along with 7 Tier3 X-Wing escorts. DON'T underestimate what raw speed and agility can do for you.
