I'm sure someone has done this before.

Take a looted reactor with a high cap (mine has 39k generation)

Slap a level 4 engine overload on a Mark 5 engine (mine is 119.1 top speed) and a good solid booster and you get:

A ginormous hurtling object through space. My Krayt gunship cuises at 1511 speed, and can boost up to 1750. This makes my Krayt a competant PVE ship, blinding speed, still a little slow in the turns, but with three guns, and so much reactor space, I can run a level 4 reactor overload, and a level 2 or 3 weapon overload and deal out serious damage.

It's this kind of starship engineering which make me love JTL so much, being able to turn a bulky tugboat into an interceptor that will have your JSF buddiesjaws dropping.

JSF would rip a Krayt like that to shreds. If you want to beat a JSF in a big bird, it's better to cut throttle to pull off tighter turns. As it is, the Krayt is so enormous that it's just one big floating target, even at exceptionally high speeds.

I think your krayt sounds cool, and I agree it's fun to set up ships like that and send the RotW kiddies running. The average Actis pilot is going to be lunchmeat if you know what you're doing, and if nothing else they sure aren't going to expect something with that kind of speed.

Here's wishing you lots of dead JSF pilots!

My buddy actually did beat a JSF in a dogfight in his......B-wing. It is possible to kill JSFs in big and bulky fighters, it is difficult though and takes a lot of skill.

The B-wing sucks alot harder compared to the krayt.

A B-wing flies like a YT-1300 almost.

At least a krayts flight controls don't reverse when decellerating from boosing

maybe Some image recording missiles could sort that eta2(JSF)out
i mean not many players use missiles in PVP anymore, but this is sportsmenship however when your in a hulk of a ship against the fly. useing a nailgun to swat a fly don't work.

key word AVERAGE, believe me i thought i was good with me 60 ypr engine on my jsf, sure ide get blown up alot in DS by other pilots. then i took a step up and got me a 70ypr engine. now i feel like im invincible ever sense they got rid of those bugged parts. not alot of competition from the rebels.

I didn't think about IMG Rec's.

A B-wing with missiles loaded and my config could do serious damage with my reactor/engine configuration.

I should try it out in my Krayt, but I only have two missile ports (doesn't the B-wing have 3 or 4?)

Take another look at your krayt. Unless something really wonky happened, it only has one missile launcher.

All privateer-onlystarfighters have a single missile launcher. The onlyfighter that a privateer can fly that has more than one launcher is the firespray... And those things tend to be too tricky to fly, too big of a target, and too expensive to be of much use as a dedicated missile boat.

And the b-wing has two missile launchers.

I think it is time for you to go to the pilot forum and get cracking on that FAQ.

Youre only chance to kill a smaller ship would be to joust (using youre high speeds) then let loose with youre 3-4 guns in a game of chicken.
Ofc you will loose to any competant pilot who doesnt fly directly at you, ie dodges towards you instead of flying straight.

I'm waiting to test it in PVP. You don't know until you've tried it.

Formulate your theories after you've flown a dumptruck at 1768. It's crazy.

QFE. Start collecting L8 and L10 engines. Rolling an RE engine with EO4 will allow for some great flexability in maneuvering.

Just out of my curiosity...why would you want to engage in a turning battle when you are flying something like the Krayt? You should be playing towards the strenghts of your ship, and minimizing/eliminating the weaknesses, not the other way around. This sounds an awful lot to me like bringing a semi to a drag race...while it's possible that the semi could win, it's not very likely. Take that semi to the demolishon derby instead

That being said, I personally think that there are two *best approaches* to a ship like the Krayt in terms of engine:

The first, is to do what the OP has done (which I also think is quite cool, and have done it myself), and make your big ships a fast jouster/missle boat. You are not likely to outmaneuver a smaller ship, so you may as well be faster than they are.

Alternatively, if you are going the PYR route...don't put that high speed QID in there...put in a lower speed/high PYR QID or level 10 engine in it. The reason for this is simple, and I have yet to see it mentioned on this, or the pilot forum at all, which is somewhat strange. First off, the properties of circular motion, which have been stated many times, dictate that with equivalent PYR, the ship moving at a slower velocity will turn a tighter circle. But that's only half of it...

With the exception of the Krayt, take a look at the Acceleration and Deceleration values. I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but these values are static, meaning that they do not adjust with the top speed of your ship. I know this because I have a speed-equipped Vaksai. The Vaksai has very nice accel/decel values, but it takes a very noticeable amount of time to go from top speed to maneuvering speed and back...very noticeable. It takes quite a bit more time than using my level8 RE. In fact, it's comparable to my Firespray, which is using an 83 speed level 8 RE that I bought off of a vendor. Take this, and use a lower speed engine in your big ship, and you will be able to *throttle maneuver* much more quickly, which can make you very dangerous indeed.
