Thread: SOE got our hopes up about capital ships...

[17:33] <Brekkee> *Anon4881* At this years Fan Fest, a video was shown that strongly hinted at Player Capital Ships. When will more information on these ships be released?

[17:33] <Rogue_5> The video was a technology test straight from a developer's desk that we decided to share with the Fan Fest attendees. It does not necessarily represent anything we are currently doing with the game.

Then dashed them against the rocks.

At least they're consistently letting us down, lol. But really, they never told us that they were working on them; they just showed us the video to keep us playing a little longer.... waiting.... That was kind of wrong on there part.

Where did you find that quote? Last official word I heard was that cap ships were done but they hadn't figured out how to implement them yet - which I think means what, they're trying to figure out how to charge money for them without creating an expansion?

It was in the Stratics Dev. chat last night. You can read the log at Stratics.com.

True. Have you seen their TV commercials? Need I say more?

Heh, you didn't play EQ or buy Shadows of Luclin then, did you? Man, if you want to talk about false advertising, entire features were missing from that game that were advertised. Not to mention the day it launched was one big mess, since they patched the wrong client and no one could connect. Players were passing around patch files to fix the problems themselves. The version of Directx that came with the expansion was already incompatible with it at launch... SOE's official press release the next day declared the whole thing a great success.

This would simply be par for the course.

I'd happily wait until they released an expansion that focused more on JTL. I don't want to be lured into buying an expansion JUST for capital ships. Capital ships SHOULD be covered by what we paid for JTL. Afterall, the devs admitted that JTL was released incomplete. I'll wait until they add a planet that DOES HAVE new space.

Id settle for dueling on board POB Ship's and seeing nebulon b frieghter fighting vettes above naboo, like the freakin trailer on the MAIN PAGE shows!

Mind you i wouldnt say no to cap ship's but as much as i love JTL, i wouldnt pay for and expansion for what should have been in JTL anyway.

Given that a statement came out at the Euro fanfest indicating that Capital Ship programming was complete, I would say its probably just a matter of time before we hear what's up with them.

Thats the problem. It's ALL a matter of time. In the process, we give them money and they push things away...and away...and away....

You would think that phrase "a long time ago in galaxy far far away" actually applied to when SOE promised, or hinted, at things to come.

Not to flame you, Janu, just to flame SOE.
