I agree completely. One of the reasons I came back to SWG was to play JTL, and I've been more than satisifed with how it's turned out. Of course, I think there's always room for improvement and expansion, but on the whole, space has turned out pretty good.

You are not alone. I am a huge fan of space combat simulators like JTL. I have beaten all the X-Wing series games and have played the entire Wing Commander series. I love JTL, and I really love the ability to tweak you ships and outfit them with completely different components, and the fact that no two components or ships are the same. Something the other games lack. Woot! Way to go, SOE!

So far I've been quite satisfied with JTL. I'm mainly a crafter, so its been great to take breaks from it on occasion and go advance my pilot career. It's taken me up to now since JTL's release to get to the corvette mission, and I have enjoyed every milestone achieved. It will be a great reward to be able to fly my own YT-1300!
Not to mention there is no much potential for JTL in the future...can't wait!

I agree, JtL is an awsome game and I enjoy it quite a bit. I don't find much wrong with it at all.
I just wish we could have four ships...

Scythykins, while I agree, JTL is a pretty good game, you might be looking at it from a simple perspective.
2-3 shot kills. Realistic sure, if it is a Bwing shooting an Awing. What about the 50 shot kills on NPCs. That isn't realistic at all, yet it is a part of JTL. Also, if an Awing with its best equipment shoots an average Bwing, it should take around 10-20 shots to destroy the Bwing. It is supposed to have very powerful shields and heavy armor, but because shields are insignificant in PvP, a Bwing might only survive one extra shot over an Awing.
Ships should have independant roles, but right now Bwings don't have much they can bomb. I went out with my Bwing and triedto take out a tier 5 bomber with level 9 torpedos (which do 6-8k damage per) and I still hada hard time killing it (and I had 3 Xwings and 2 Ywings helping out). When it comes to PvP, playing a bomber is usually a waste of time. Maybe if you go out with 6 other players, having missles that do 5k damage would be useful for the 1 hit kills (though an Xwing can take2Proton Torpedo hits before being destroyed in every other Xwing based game, and that is with shields at 100%, at 200% it takes even more).
Basically, yes, the game is fun, but NO it is not working as intended. It definately needs to be looked at. Thankfully, the amount of work to fix these problems shouldn't be hard. Basically some mass vs power tweaks on the components and we are all good again.

I agree whith yafor the most part, not a day goes by that I don't spend hour or so in space. My only problem is pvp, 2 shot kills, no skill required, just who gets lucky first. I will keep this game as long as it is live, and get every expancion they put out. Long live the Rebelion.

I agree with you game function-wise, I just think that its pretty much a black hole as far as content goes. More content and I will never play another game.

Well I'll say one thing. An that's is if you did'nt pick up JTLS right when it came out your screwed. I just bought it recently an moving up the damn Pilot tree's is nearly impossible because you cant find anyone to help you with missions. Everyone is already either an Ace Pilot blowing each other up in Kessel or given up on Space an went back to grinding Jedi. Why they thought it would be fun to limit your advancement with required group missions i'll never know. I mean I love group content but damn let me earn MY skills MYSELF.

Am I the only one who thinks that most if not all major systems are working smoothly, that it creates an enjoyable, challenging atmosphere for all players of all skill levels? Am I the only one who enjoys going up and somewhat realistically blowing up an enemy player in 2-3 shots at most? Am I the only one who enjoys balancing out his 3 ships with the proper mix of loot and crafted components to make my X-wing a superiority fighter, my B-wing a heavy bomber and my A-wing a lightweight recon fighter better at getting out of trouble than getting in it? Am I the only one that thinks ships should have independent roles, and that half the fun of gaining rank is being able to use new and better ships?
More to be added, but tell me someone else truly enjoys the game as is, and doesn't think anything major needs changing.

I salute you for yhis post. I am in full agreement with you on the game and the entertainment value thereof. In my own way I have integrated the ground game with the space game. I runBounty Hunter missionsusing my shipsas transport and on the way back I will take on a mission in space or just fly back and see what kind of trouble I can get into and out of. We may be in the minority, but I believe the $15.00 per month is money WELL SPENT.

i too was surprised at how well it was working compared to the ground game
it was like almost a console game
now that i've gotten the feel for it, i see some minor flaws that are mere inconvienences

To be honest, JTL is the ONLY reason I have returned to SWG.
I was playing since Beta 3, but theproblems with the ground game and the attitute "I'll be fixed in the combat balance" really ground me down, so I quit.
I am a real big fan of games like Elite, Freelancer and the X-wing games, so the chance to do all those things I love, and still hang out with my friends is too good to miss.
I've not had a single round of combat on the ground, I do all my killin in space
The best thing is that this is only the tip of the iceburg, there is so much more stuff that could make the JTL even more immersive & interesting
