Thread: How long now?
The summit was over 8/29
We were told we would get more info in a week.
Where is it?
This is not a dig against any of our correspendants. I would just really like to know beyond the rumor mill that the combat revamp made it beyond the dead tree stage.

I am curious myself as it has been mentioned in previous weeks as having been considered for the Friday Feature. Today is another Friday so maybe today will be the day we hear something.
I am not opposed to waiting longer to hear details if there are still some pretty key areas being figured out (with the Correspondants helping the Devs remove the sharp edges), but I definitely agree that some news is what would be helpful. I think the Devs have been doing a pretty poor job all along of setting expectations (then failing to meet them) and this is what gets people pretty bent out of shape (justifiably so). If we could hear a simple "We've been working on the combat revamp draft, have hit some snags, and need another week or so to work it out before we share it with the community", that would go off a lot better than no information to players waiting in suspense.

JTL is entering Beta and will be shipping within a couple of months or so, so I'm sure the Devs are scrambling to bring Beta servers up, get people testing, and frantically fixing bugs.
Tiggs just started working and is figuring out what's what. The Community Relations "assistant" (used to be Thunderheart and is now Tiggs) seems to always be the main person interacting with the player community. The Devs may be wanting to give Tiggs a bit of time before dropping such a potentially contraversial "bomb" on the community.
Lastly, the Devs do seem to be doing a side project with replacing or rearranging hardware on servers. They haven't explained it in detail, but it sounds like it involves whole servers at a time and will ultimately improve stability and reliability.
I'm not trying to defend the Devs, but am merely trying to state what we know they're working on -- and that's a lot as is. I tend to be a realist and as a result it can appear I am defending someone not getting things done fast enough, but it's really not the case. Heck, I'm eager to see the combat revamp (even in draft document form) myself!

Now isn't that progress.

even a post saying "this is the piliminary plan it is not set in stone but we would like the community so see what we are working on" followed by the revamp.
No insead they let the volunteer correspendants take all the heat for only being able to drop hints.
They still haven't figured out that we as a community want to see this game succeed or we wouldn't be playing it.
We have also seen that their initial ideas are always crap.
I give you
- The original combat revamp that they scrapped before they finished implimenting it
- the crafters revamp
- the merchant revamp
- the droid invasion (boy now i really see droids all over not!)
- corpse runs (great idea but too many bugs)
- The randomness of buffs
- Medical crafting (you know us exploiters that use nothing but the finest stuff for multi -1000 buffs and overpowerful CM posions)
Now if they would post it and get a little community feedback (and yes the flames) would that be so horrible? or would it actually give some of us who are sick of the imbalance a reason to keep playing?
The devs will never know they lack vision and most importantly they lack leadership, leadership of the community as a whole.

I'm not sure it was intentionally lieing as much as it was a foolish expectation they set. The Devs do seem very bad at forecasting things then having a myriad of excuses (all good ones, but excuses nonetheless) why something is delayed. I get pretty frustrated too when things slip time and time again to where a pattern of disappointment develops and eventually leads to skepticism about any future plans.
I do *not* want the Devs to stop communicating with us altogether in order to prevent us from getting frustrated when things slip. What I would like to see is less promise (or implied promise) and more outline types of things. I think the Devs do better when they do *not* include dates and just do a rough outline of big milestones and ordering they are shooting for.
Maybe Tiggs will push to improve some of this stuff. I think many in the community, whether you're ready to strangle the closest Dev or not, has seen enough slippage in deadlines and such to want to see some improvement.
