Thread: There MUST be an Alternative to the Vette to Master!

This is just plain stupid. For several play sessions now I have tried to get a group together to take on the Star Ravager. There are simply NOT enough players out there to get the required group together. It's plainly obvious that a few new MMO's have snatched players away and those of us loyal players that are left are being forced to suffer!

PLEASE give us an alternative to a 15 person group!

Well I appreciate the thought

I've manged to get a group of 5 or 6 together but we all head to different starports and yell for more help and no-one responds. Tonight I wasted 4 hours of playtime trying to get a group big enough to tackle it with no luck. There's only so much of this that a player can be expected to take before they jump ship and see if the grass is any greener elsewhere.

then take it down yourself, its not that hard.

kill the fighter escort and then take out the only gun on the belly of the vette, now its got a HUGE blind spot. kill the shiled generators staying in that blind spot, using the vette to shield you from gunships. make high speed pass on engines avoiding most gunship fire. and then finish off the disabled vette when the gunboats fly off.

Seconded. I've taken down five Vettes singlehandedly just by analyzing approach routes and knowing my orientations.

You're Imperial FFS! Get off your high horse and stop using bomber strike, then we'll see how far you get by "analysing approach routes and knowing your orientations." You're so stuck up you should be smacked.

15 people?!? My God, you're doing something wrong. I help with the master mission on a daily basis. 7 or 8 people are plenty. 15 people should be a freaking cinch. Are they all Tier 1's helping you??

I've done it with and without Bomber Strike, so stop to think before you make blanket accusations.

I knew it! I posted a while back that as soon as the PvP element of the master mission is removed there will be some PvE'er whining and complaining that the Vette mission is too hard, or takes too many people.

If I worked for SOE I would just ignore these boards are they are justfull of whiners and complainers to make this game easier. Oops.. I guess that's me included. But at least I want to make things harder..

This what I will suggest.Let peopleget trained touse factoin master ships (notFiraspray) and level 9 and 10 componentsby grinding out the 7.5 mil xp, butthey won't be able to gettheir Ace helmet reward and the badgeifthey do it thru grinding, however, theyshould always be able to take the corvette mission at any timeevenafter grinding out 7.5 mil xp. So, as soon as you finish your vette mission you'll get the helmet and your badge, and the full Ace status. As for people who choose the vette route to begin with you, they'll become Ace without having to grind out the xp just as is now.

I don't know. For rebels and neutrals, they might need 15+ or even 20 people, but for us Imperials we don't need that many. I did it with 5 other people, one of them is an Ace, and it took less than 10 minutes to take the vette down. The reason why imps can do it with less people is because the Rebel gunboatescortsare bugged, so they won't attackunless you shoot them. The imp gunboats wiill start shootingat you as soon as you start theattackon thevette, so rebels and neutrals need more people. As for bombstrikes, they're very good for distracting the vette's gun turrets, keeping them busy, but you'll still have to take out the vette's systemmanually.

Just because you're an "Ace" doesn't mean the title means something. More and more "Aces" are being towed up the tiers by friends and guildmates, and they haven't taken the time or expended the energy to figure out how to cope with the "hard" parts.

A Tier 4 mostly-self-made pilot is better than an Ace who has been towed up the tiers.
