Thread: POB ships allowing docking and Apartments in Space
What I'd like to see in POBs (and it's been discussed to death, but it's on my mind right now) is the ability for other ships to dock with you and unload passengers (even if it were just one passenger). Or heck, just dock and exchange items for now (pilot stays in their ship). Either way would open tons of gameplay.
More ambitious is the apartment-in-space idea where you can just dock with a space station and have a small apartment hooked up with a few group areas (cantina etc). This also would allow you to exchange items/crew and stay aloft in space as long as you want. Oh yeah, you should have a window to space and be able to log on/off from there.
Please please pretty please!!!

I agree.
It is sometimes frustrating to go planetfall, in order to pick someone up, plus time consuming to bring the systems online again afterwards.
It would be awesome if they could launch and dock with you at say the space station, when on board the could "park" their own ship in the space station.
Alternatively as was suggested allow us to dock with a new type of space station, where we could swop people, reload or whatever. This area as we all know already exeists in the form of the tutorial space station. But if you do this please do not include the Jedi lol
Yeah, docking at the space station would work. (It would suck if you lost your droid programs when you launched again, though.)
Ideally you could dock, walk around, talk to other people, maybe have a bank terminal (safety dep box), then there would be a quick option to get back to your ship which is raring to go.
What I would *NOT* like is if it took as long to dock with the station as it does to land on a planet (probably losing droid commands along the way).
Oh yeah, and if you logged out from the station, that's where you'd log in. (btw it floored me when I tried logging out from my POB when walking around... has that ability always been there?)
P.S. I forgot-- it'd be crucial to be able to get at mined asteroids from the station, too.

It would be a very cool concept to add to the game. I would go a few steps farther and suggest that there be landing platforms made available to those that want them.
These platforms would be placeables, like houses are, but would allow a single player to land his/her POB starship directly at one spot on one planet. The Platform could have a small two or three room "office/apartment" attached to it, with the real "home" being the actual starship itself.
This would allow players to have their own city based landing pads and add more "Star Wars" to the game. These platforms could also be used for regular starfighters as well, which would only add to the flavor of landing in your player city without necesarily needing a POB Ship.
The platform could be designed so as to only allow one ship to be berthed at a time. So, it's either one POB ship or one starfighter, but not both at once.
I agree.

What is CRUCIAL is to have some missions that REQUIRE a POB to complete. No POB, no end of mission loot, no badge. Simple. Easy thing I can think of is some mission that during the way has something to navigate-- like a chasm or trench-- and while you're navigating you need to blow up stuff on your left and right, i.e. you'd better have both turrets occupied and one pointed left, one pointed right.
What are some other ideas that would require the uniqueness of multi-player ships and crews? If you were doing a Quest and suddenly realized you needed POB to complete, it would bring an all-new flavor to Quests. For one thing, you'd get some escorts whose only mission is to protect your butt, and also a need for a crew.
In space? If you are talking death star kind of trench than it would be a good idea to implement into space stations. If ever player stations enter the GCW, having to use POB ships to go on bombing runs and run down trenchs to destroy the statio would be cool.

Ok, it'sabout amonth later and POBs are still on my mind. After reading a nice thread on loot it's apparent a properly equipped Neutral or Rebel ship will always have tons of firepower available to take-down a POB, no matter what elite components are installed.

Considering all the suggestions for staying in space, exchanging items and passengers, etc, what about of you want to visit your friend who lives aboard their YT-1300, and usually stays docked with, say Station K-147, for Kash Sector Station, you take a Shuttle up to the Staion.
If you make it possible to take shuttles up to stations, people that son't have POB ships, or use them as houses, wouldn't have the problem of whether or not to take their fighter up to the stations. Ofcourse, the option to take your fighter up to a POB Staion would make it possible for Players that don't have POB's to live in Space as well, making the whole thing much more immersive.
As a matter of fact, new players could start out aboard one of these staions, and choose their startinmg planet. I hated the idea of not having a choice of what planet to start out on with one of my newer toons.
