This has probably been asked a thousand times already but is there any indication as yet as to the pre-reqs, if any for shipwright?
I'd really like to play one and want to by in the best position possible to take on the prof as soon as I get JTL.

So far it has yet to be decided if it will branch off of artisan as an elite profession or if it will be its own starting profession entirely.

No, the devs said specifically that it won't come off of Artisan.
It will likely be a novice profession, the Space equivalent of Artisan, leading to new Space Crafting Profs (e.g. Starfighter Engineer).

The latest information we have is the screen shots from the GenCon.
At the moment here is how it is:
Shipwright is a starting profession with no pre-reqs and takes 74 or 77 SP to master like any other starting profession.
Starship Engineer is an elite profession that branches off of Shipwright
This is a new twist having 2 professions. It appears that most or all of the ships are in shipwright, and starship engineer is just hiring end upgrades (weapons, engines......)
I think this is a great idea. It leaves the window open for more elite professions off of shipwright.....

Thanks for that.
Think I'll need to pick up an exta account then as I don't want to drop my current master (the totally unrelated Image Designer) and I think the best template for a shipwright has got to be Shipwright/DE given the upgrades to DE for JTL.

Don't forget about surveying... or am I the only one who doesn't buy their resources?

Edit: I can type in English... honest.

Your not the only one. Right now my template's looking like:
Master Shipwright
Master Starfigher Engineer
Master Merchant
Artisan 1-1-4-4
Master Shipwright

When did it become 2 classes I have only heard about 1.
It sounds pretty firm, though I don't know if there was a redname (dev) post on it. Nevertheless, badges for both professions are on one of the TestCenter boxes right this minute. All the GenCon screenies and such show Shipwright with Starfighter Engineer coming off of it.

For a shipwright template I would go
Master shipwright 77 points 77
Master starfighter eng 63 points 140
Artisan Business 4 25 points 165
Novice Merchant 6 points 171
The more merchant the better so you can sell items more easily and in more locations. Master might be the way to go. DE isn't a bad idea since folks will need astromechs. I am a master architect now and will probably keep it. If my math is right you can get Eng 4 and 1 more elite and still be under the cap of points.

Artisan Business 4 is 29 points not 25. You'd end up 2 points short of another master crafting profession.
