Nothing on the /move up and /move down commands in the Y-8? It's not really a major issue, but it sure is annoying.

Well, a decent number of space related informationwas given out by the devs in the IRC chat today. Here's a list of the interesting things that came up...



  • The devs are aware that the Y-8 is a poor mining ship. Darth_Platypus said that the idea to fix it will be to add two additional turrets to the front of the Y-8. He also said he will be looking into possibly expanding the fire arcs of the two exsisting turrets.

  • Darth_Platypus will be looking at the balance of the new ROTW ships versus the older JTL ships. He will then determine if some ships need to be nerfed or if some need to be improved.

  • They are working on a toggle to turn off the red and blue boxes that appear around all ships in space right now.

  • There are no plans to give rebelsa quest for the Jedi Starfighter and Imperials a quest for the ARC-170.

  • Asteroid Resourses will be put to use in more schematics as time goes on in order to increase the demand for space mining.

  • There are no plans to add direct travel to Kashyyyk.

  • The "Ghreg's are weak" bug is being looked at, but no ETA on a fix was given.

  • The bugs that are negatively affecting the crafting of Elite starship components are being looked at, and should be fixed soon.

  • Darth_Platypus is aware of the bugs with WO3 and the other bugged droid programs, but he has no ETA on when a fix will be done.

Seeing as how this has been a known bug since the JTL release, it doesn't fill me with confidence that the other bugs/problems listed will be taken care of very soon.

I don't like the idea of the Y-8 having 5 weapons banks. It makes it a capital ship. The original PoB ships are still desperately waiting for their own forward facing weapon slot, and nothing

I love the idea of using the Y-8 as a capital ship (it's HUGE), but the real joke is that theycan stick 20 turrets on it, but I still can't shoot a chunk of asteroid off with the two that are already there. Of course it's a poor mining ship --IT CAN'T MINE.

Maybe only tractor beam will be usable

If the fire arc on the top turret is expanded a bit so that it overlaps more with the fixed forward gun, and if the two new front turrets also overlap with the forward fixed gun, I think it will work much better with a coordinated mining team. That's assuming all the other bugs with it are fixed, too.

Given SOE's track record for balance, if this doesn't make you nervous as hell, you're naive.

Ooooh, I know! It'll be like when they balanced the creature handlers! All of the new ships will be given a mass of 20k and a YPR of 14. And 4 gunslots each, to make up for it.


Not that I'm bitter. Just tired of the same unending stream of bugs and lame fixes.

I am confused with the use of the word nerf, I thought most space related things were fine? Nerf is an ugly word, when it is pulled out and put into action it usually messes up many more things than it helps. Can anyone recall any good and healthy nerf that didnt mess up many other things?

What current bugs are there with Droid commands? I'm not aware of them.

Any information is appreciated.
