Thread: Don't use EB Games...

My husband and I both have played SWG since beta, we looked forward to it ever since we first heard that there would be a Star Wars mmog. My hubby is a huge Star Wars fan (shocking, I know) and he has just about every SW game on all of the platforms that we own. One of his favorites is X-Wing vs. TIE, so, JTL is incredibly cool to him and he was thrilled to be invited to the beta and has been excited about it going live.

So, of course, he pre-ordered JTL and he did it through the link given by SWG, which happened to be EB Games. He was disappointed last night that he hasn't received the JTL disc yet, especially after he heard that some have been able to access JTL before they were suppose to be able to, which means that they have had their discs for days already. On checking the order information screen for EB Games today, I came to find out that the disc hasn't even been shipped yet, so, I called EB Games and they said that it's not scheduled to ship until tonight and their excuse was that, although the SWG site says that the discs would be shipped a day early, EB's site has always said that it would ship today, the 26th.

This may sound like a petty argument to some, but, those of us who are big gamers know how important it is to be there on opening day, especially for this game....this is my hubby's ultimate mmog and this is about the best expansion for him as far as pure enjoyment. Being a gaming related company, I find it insensitive for EB Games to not be aware of this and cater to their customers in response.

Please just wait. It's not the end of the world. I have been waiting for this for quite awhile myself but hyper-ventilating isn't gonna make the people who are shipping the disc move any faster. Have a beer, go to the movies, play SWG to get ready for when you do get the disc, etc, it don't matter what you do because you can't make it arrive any faster. =D Have a nice day.

EB Games have stated the whole time when they will ship. Advice: never order online, always preorder locally. Online stores hardly ever get it to you in time.

I just read somewhere that EB is having problems with their order status page. I don't know if this is true, but aparently they claim to be shipping most orders even though its not showing it as shipped.

EB games has already made offical statments they are having problems updating there web site as far as shipped orders. This always happens with large releases of games. You will get your game on time at whatever shipping you ordered. EBGAMES.com is the best site around and ALWAYS comes thru on time.. Give it a rest

Also if you have a problem with your beta CD and didnt get it, you might wish to place the order well in advance. Dont wait till a week before its suppose to ship to place the order. Why didnt you order this game in June like everyone else did who got the beta CD. Did you not think you werent going to play JTL? You can always cancel the order if you quit the game. Come on now, if you didnt get it its not there fault.

I wouldn't complain too much, try being an Australian player where your local EB store tells you that "NO, we wont be selling SWG or JTLS as there is no Australian server".
I had to order it through a friend in the US who hopefully is emailing me the key today.
Take care

Mmmm. Is there any point to preording then? Since I can just cruise past the shop and pick one up on the same day or before EBgames ships it...

I would be able to just pay SOE directly for a key. At least the current accounts should ba able to. This way there's no "drama."

Had my beer, watched Team America, still waiting for JTL

I do not understand.

In a single day they ship out thousands of requests for JtL plus all of the other games that are done regularly.

They really cannot move much faster. Besides, if you're concerned, then just remember that most are in the same position as you are in.

Should have chosen in-store pickup, girl said It would be delivered to them tomorrow (yes, a female working at a game store).

I've ordered online before, and but for rare exceptions...your experience is par for the course.

Last time I ordered (from EB Games, I feared it wouldn't arrive on opening day, so I went ahead and bought it that morning from a Software, Etc. As luck would have it, the game did arrive in the mail, so I promptly returned it to my local EB store. No muss no fuss and a lesson well learned: If you wanna preorder...do it in a store.

I'm in the same boat as you, and I have no excuse because ebgames.com has done this to me before. I ordered the Ultima Online Age of Shadows expansion ahead of time through them as well, and received it nearly 2 days after the people that ordered it at amazon.com.

The consequences of the UO expansion delay was much greater, because new housing land was opening up, and those of us that ordered through ebgames.com had no chance at the best plots of land for a house.

So compared to the UO fiasco, I wouldn't say it's a huge deal. But yeah, i'm going to try to remember not to order from them ever again. They simply don't do their jobs very well

And to the person who said to just play the game until the expansion arrives, that's kind of hard with the immense lag and parts of the game that are broken thanks to JTLS. NPC's that drop loot have either been severly nerfed, or they are majorly broken now. Most server forums have threads about people not getting any loot today
