As an imperial pilot i find that the only NPC spacecraft i have trouble killing are A-Wings, Yet they are worth the least reward? I think their reward should be increased because of the difficulty to destroy. B-Wing easyist to kill yet it has the biggest reward.. Something seems wrong with this. Most Imperial Pilots just avoid fighting A-Wings because they arn't worth the effort.

I'm a freelancer and i agree with you on this one. alot of Pirates and such use those A-wings and they take probably 10 times as long to kill. Like you i try to avoid even messing with them because they arent worth the time.

i was going to say 'oh yea', but as i think about it, awings are slow to take out sometimes, but they have no missles. with a good ypr engine, you can hang with them. i find getting on their 6, and constantly hitting match speed very effective for staying on them.
b wings & y wings are a major pain. with me flying a high speed tie, they can out turn me because they move so slow. (arg). but then, i often don't watch my closure, and end up way to close. if i can stay about 2-300m out, i can hit them reliably. i think the main reason b's are worth more is 1) master level ship, and 2) the weapon load they have.
if you were in beta, you remember when the npc's had missle storms. a squad of y's would wipe you out sooooo fast.

My tactics have been like this...
Bombers/Heavy Fighters are priority targets (they use missles, and missles hurt)
After those are gone I go for the AWings. Personally I don't have too many problems with these but I generally shoot their engines out first. Why? Well, it's kind of like ripping the wings off of flies in my opinion. They buzz around, become annoying, then you have to squash them. In my opinion (NPC or not) nothing would demoralize an awing pilot more than losing his speed.

Maybe us imp pilots are just spoiled because of the easy to hit big-target-reb-ships. The A-Wing may be fast but half the difficulty killing it is because of it being so small. Image being a reb pilot and having to cope with small, agile TIEs all the time. /shudder

Heh, been there done that. What ticked me off as a rebel pilot was my shots would straddle tie fighters alot. Well at first, later on i kinda figured out how to minimize that and got pretty good with my X wing. But convergance (acutally, lack thereof) tends to be an issue for most rebel pilots, espeically where TIE's are concerned.
The funny thing is as a rebel, i wanted chin mounted guns or something so i could hit the center of the tie, not clip its wings. Now that im an imperial pilot, i find the exact opposite is true. Now i wish (espeically with A wings) i had a quad gun configuration instead of chin mounted because you have to be ALOT more accurate with a pin point hit area, than with a 4 bolt spread like the rebel X wing.
Kinda funny how that works out. *rolls eyes*

My beef isnt with how hard they are to hit its that they give the smallest reward for killing them, Small crafts are supose to be harder to hit. But at least make the Effort vs Reward worth it come on!

The A-Wing is a scout vessel. Fast, small, low Weaponary and shields. Killing a A-Wing is no big deal, once you got used to em. It would not make sense to enhance the reward for a-wings, because then SoE would also have to increase the reward for Khiraaz and TIE interceptor as well, because those are the comparable vessels from the other factions.
As annother poster stated: Imperial Pilots are spoiled, due to the fact that they only have large targets to worry about, exept the A-Wing. Rebels allways have to worry about small targets... TIE´s.
In every spacegame the differing vessels are usually like this:
Scout vessels: Low Armaments, low Shields, High speed and moneuverablility
Fighter vessels: Good Armaments, Good shields, Medium / High Speed and manouverability
Bomber vessels: Very good armaments, very good shields, Medium / Low Speed and manouverability
And usually its allways: Scout vessels=low reward, Fighter vessles=average reward, Bombers=high reward.
For JTL that´ll make
A-Wing / Khiraaz / TIE-Interceptor - Scouts
X-Wing / Ixiyen / TIE Advanced - Fighters
B-Wing / Rhyxirk / TIE Bomber - Bombers
hence, the rewards given at the moment are justified and good the way they are

I realise this is OT and I apologise but this is v.important to me; I was under the impression that since the end of beta, ypr are based solely on the ship chassis and the engine stats have no bearing. Can someone clarify???

As far as I know, the chassis only makes up a small part of it. the Engine does the rest.

each chassis has a ypr modifier, but your base rates come from the engine you have in it.

We have a saying in guildchat regarding this: "Everytime you kill an A-Wing, a Bothan gets a free grooming."
A-Wings = the incarnations of evil
A-Wings = the incarnations of evil
