Thread: Ok I have been saying this in Beta for the past week so here it goes.....Forced PVP in JTL

In order to become a master in any of the pilot professions you must enter the Kessel system, all of the master missions take place there. The problem with this is you have no choice whether or not to PVP in the kessel or deep space system, if you enter those system you are PVP fodder.

Now consider that and think about this.... rebel master mission 1, kill 30 ties.... they are not very fast spawns and hard to get to anyways because of the gunboats all around that can really mess you up, if you hyperspace out to repair, reload you fail the mission, if you die you fail the mission and you have to go get the mission again and then head back to start over.... now add in on all of that you are now a PVP target whether you want to be or not.

I tried this mission a few times then quit beta because of the PVP, I had maybe a few minutes in the zone but every time I was attacked by a PC, my choices where to die (restart mission) hyper out (restart mission) try to kill the guy shooting me...(no I refuse to take part in PVP). In just the past week alone I have counted in about 10 different threads about this issue, and there have been post after post about the possible griefing once this in live, yet all those posts have been ignored, not one dev comment.

Firespray by the way is the AV21 of JTL you have to gather 8 fragments that you can make a schem from that you can make 8 ships from.

Oh and the multiplayer ships are just taxi's, from the drivers seat thats all you can do, if you want your YT to be able to do your solo smuggling, forget it... you cant shoot without leaving the drivers seat and going to a turret.

please add you comments about the forced PVP issue, also those of you that support forced PVP think about this first, what would you do if I took PVP completely away from you? would you like being forced to do nothing but PVE? That is the same way we feel about being forced to take part in PVP.

I would cancel my subscription and find a real online game.

and what would happen if us pure non PVP people did the same considering that according to the last thing I saw 70% of the people on ground game were neutral, and of the rest only 10% were overt? if that many people take your above action what happens to you then?

Well.....if you're to the point where you're knocking on the master box, I'd liketo believe that you have a great ship and have your pilot skills honed to a point where you should be able to survive in the tough space sectors for a while. If that's not the case, and you don't like PvP then just stick with pilot 4 4 4 4 and live happy in non-PvP sectors or on the ground.

As this is my first mmorpg i find it hard to understand all this "PVP" Rubbish.

I come from playing online games that are all what you lot seem to call "PVP", I dont understand what people have againstfighting real people in JTL.

I mean does it matter? it seems to be a state of mind.

I may be wrong but what i always thought was that a "multiplayer" game was so you can play with and against other Human players that go far beyond the predictabiltiy of the dumb AI.

Sureley playing other humans is a bonus? a challenge? it makes for an intresting game.

Just to add another little titbit here.....I rarely PvP on the ground, but I think I'll PvP in space, just seems like it will be fun.

and if i changed it around and said that in order to gain access to the top tier ships YOU must never PVP again (yeah I know that I will be able to non pvp after but I dont want to PVP at all, it goes against my grain, you dont care what you kill as long as you are killing), what if you had to give up PVP to gain access to all the content, said you cant have all the ships unless you give up something that you believe in and do something you dont want to. Would you be willing to do that? You are telling me to suck it up, just live with an a wing, dont get the b wing or firespray, or the multi player ship because I refuse to do something that I am fundamentaly against.

Would you stay in an A wing to keep being able to PVP? Nope you would be wanting the highest tier ships and to be able to PVP in them, well I want to not PVP and be able to have the highest tier ships.

"I come from playing online games that are all what you lot seem to call "PVP", I dont understand what people have againstfighting real people in JTL."

If it's like ground PvP then the issue is that PvP players are developed for just that specific purpose and PvE players get completely demolished by them. Many people develop specifically for PvE and so there is no enjoyment in getting pulled into PvP and wasted over, and over, and over by PvP specialists.

So that's where the argument comes from. Not too hard to understand whether or not you agree with their view.

Great ship? Yes, most likely.

Honed pilot skills? Yes but geared towards NPC ships, which we all know fly very different from players and are a lot easier to beat.

Stick with pilot 4 4 4 4 and live happy in non-PvP sectors? No, why should players who don't like PvP or who are simply not good enough against other players be barred from flying the most desirable ships in the game?

Think about this issue a few months after JTL is released. There will be a lot more players in Kessel, most of whom will have mastered their pilot professions. Now a newer player enters the system trying to do his first Tier 4 mission... I don't think they'll live long there. The possibilities for griefing are pretty high, also considering that last I've heard the final mission has a very long respawn timer and is a static spawn in Kessel. What's to stop someone from camping that spot and griefing the players trying to finish their mission over and over.

Honestly, yes cause not EVERYONE, although it seems, cares about uberness. Just like I never pursued Jedi and dont care to. I'm not downing on them I just don't care about uber. I accept w/e social rankin any online video game. I accepted once being a novice scout and now I miss it.

So, I would accept w/e 1/2 best and make the best out of it, if I felt as strongly as you did.

1. Its not because 70% is Covert that it means those 70% are non pvp fans, there are numerous reasons to stay Covert then getting Overt when you rdy. The Covert system allows for a pvp fan to train up, get gear, settle in and then getting in the ring when fully rdy. Not saying all 70% are pvp enthousiasts, far from it, but these arent numbers one can use either to indicate "pvp" likeness in SWG.

2. "fundamentaly against" ? Come on, this is STAR WARS for crying out load! You play a massive multiplayer game, that means there is alot of human interaction. Whats more fun a chessgame versus a computer or a chessgame vs a human player ? If you think Human vs machine (computer) is the fun factor then your the problem here and shouldnt play "ONLINE" "MULTI"player games....

Ask this to a thousand people :

What looks more natural to you :

Starwars Galaxies : Empire vs Rebel (basic funamental about starwars) :

1. A game where players choose sides , but cant attack one another without consent. 'Oh excuse me sir enemy, Im a good roleplayer, your a Rebel, can I attack you ? no ?, sigh.

2. A game where players choose sides and fight a virtual fight Emp vs Rebel as the backbone to starwars is all about that.

Personally I have no problems with the Covert flag, I respect anothers wish how to play a game, but when that person cant get something wich normally takes pvprisk to get and whines about it then I do got a problem with it.
