I want to buy a droid to fight with me.. (I'm a marksman/scout) but I don't know who or what to ask for. Do I just shout "Anyone selling droids?". What type of droid should I be looking for to fight alongside me? What price range should I expect to pay for one?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Under your Community screen (control + P) is a search option. You can set the search parameters to look by several variables, including title or profession.

As far as droid types go, there are only two combat models in the DE skill tree. One is the zd70, which only has about 45 points in each of the HAM bars. Its not really very helpful in combat, with such low stats. The probot, on the other hand, seems to be the combat droid of choice. Its one of the two items in the entire DE skill tree that actually sells on at least a semi-regular basis.

Prices will vary according to what server you play on. Some DEs have reported the prices on probots on their servers already dropping to around 15k, while on other servers they can run as high as 35k to 40k. While this may seem steep, keep in mind that you can "store" the droid on your datapad for a few moments to fully recharge and repair it, essentially making droids nigh-immortal.

Hope some of that helps.

Don't Bounty Hunters get a line of Droids? Both tracking and combat or do you have to be BH only to use them?

"keep in mind that you can "store" the droid on your datapad for a few moments to fully recharge and repair it"

That just doesn't sound right at all. Droids should need repairs requiring fixing parts or swapping out parts. Maybe a new energy mod or something if it's action runs low. (stuff like that)

I wouldn't consider the DZ-70 a combat droid....just the probots (basic and advanced).

As far as Bounty Hunters go, they need the seeker droids and the Arakyd probe droids. The seekers look for the target on the same planet as the BH...the Arakyd droids are used to find the target on other planets.

I got a great price on a probot from a character named SpANK on Starsider at only 12k! He does 120-130 damage per attack. Highly reccommended.

He knew he was as good as gone, but gone was somewhere he really didn't mind going to.
Since his shuttle had crashed, many years had passed, and the pictures of his loved ones that he drew on the walls of the cave
had finally faded.
He put out his smoke, proceeded towards the lake, repeating to himself,
everything beautiful is far away.

Also remember that the Probot comes in two models: Probot and Advanced Probot, which is the same droid withbetter stats.I'm very happy with my Advanced model. I'm a rifle shooter, and theAP tanks quite nicely while I hide prone in the weeds. On my server the originalProbot is about 18 thousand creditsand theAP costs 25.

The Probot will also follow you around and attack anything that aggros you, making it much easier to run long distances.

The bad part is that they leech experience. You DON'T get exp for your Probot's damage - and since you're doing less (because the Probot is hitting the monster too) your own combat exp will drop.

On the bright side, you get to live. Even when I do get incapped, the monster will normally turn and aggro the AP right afterwards, which spares me a deathblow.

To avoid the exp drain, sometimes I will set theAP to patrol 50 meters behind me when I approach monster spawns. Then I cankill monsters to my heart's content, getting 100% of the exp... but if I ever get into trouble, I just retreat through my Probot's patrol area.If the monster chases me, the Probotattacks and takesaggro.

Can the dz70 be used by anyone, or is it bounty hunter only like the seeker?

Admittedly, I don't know much about droids, but I am thinking about getting one to brighten up my home/shop. I was wondering, if I was to get a Protocol Droid, would I possibly be able to give it messages or something to greet people walking into the shop? I know vendors can do this (sometimes, it is broken) but I was thinking that maybe Protocol Droids would have something similiar. If not, would exactly can they do? Also, I don't want to get ripped off. How much to R2 Droids and Protocol Droids go for?

As of today you can not program your droids to greet people. Only vendors can great customers. As for price it depends on your server (Im not sure what droids go for on Wanderhome). Perhaps a DE from wanderhome can fill this part in for ya.

if you want one that's persistant, you need to buy a chasis of an ADV model, they are items, not droids. they do not function, does not do anything... sounds bad? well look, if you do get a real droid and tell it to stay in your shop, they don't do jack either. at least you can have the one who makes the chasis name the chasis the way you want so it can work as a sign... like a protocol droid chasis (item) named "Welcome!" that sort of like a real protocol droid saying welcome... I know it's tacky but what can you expect from a profession left rotten, fogotten, and deserted by SOE? without checking my schematicsI remember R3, R2, LE repair, Binary load lifter, Probot, Protocol, maybe a couple more... don't remember because no one buys probots (90% income) and I can't make any anyway since my WDG crafting mouse doesn't work (none of them, nothing works)
