It looks like one of those inflatable 'decoy' Star Destroyers to me, I opened the window, (held my breath) and used my 'Uber' CDEF pistol tosolo mine.

To be honest, you could probably solo it with a CDEF pistol strapped to your Z95 lol. Would just take quite a long time

It's amazing how inaccurate the turrets of the Imperial Star Destroyer are compared to an Aggressor.

with an aggressor you are flying straight at the turret to shoot the ship and you are probobly less thn 200m away. on the isd if you fly straight at one of the guns while you are close to it, it will light you up too. the isd is less accurate because it shoots at you from a much farther distance giving your ship more time to change direction and get out of the blaster bolt's path.

the ai seems to lead based on the direction you are moving at the moment in time when the turret fires, so all you have to do to make the isd miss 99% of the time is to be constantly changing direction. dont make small movements side to side while still keeping more or less the same heading, you want to put as much distance between you and the shot as possible. slowly yaw in one direction and after a few seconds start to pitch, then yaw the other way, and so one. it doesnt take violent jinking to make it miss, it takes a slow steady turn.

the same also applies to the rebel base, corvettes, gunboats, etc.

Getting close to that myself. Had to kill it a few times solo to finish my weapon map (looks in sig) to get a fresh SD to finish placement of the guns. Getting much better at it. But still is more fun in a group..

me and a friend setup a train on it the other day and blew it about 30-40 times in a couple hours for massive fp (we declared before going to deep space). it would have been a whole lot more fun if some imps showed up though.

Excellent weapon map on the Star Destroyer

And I agree about the group, things tend to be more fun in a group on the ground and in space

What kind of missiles do you use when you attack one of these. i'd think spacebombs but you only get a few of them in a pack.

I like protons shooting 2 or 3 at once. Usually enough to disable a component of a corvette.

I have never fired a missile or countermeasure in my life with the Alliance. Just never seem to have the spare mass hehe. My firespray has some very nice lvl9 weapons however

ditto, 2 lvl 10s and a fast engine make very short work of the rebel base. its funny, spawns seem to come right out of it now and you just bomberstrike the spawn and it makes your job even easier.

see this is thing thing though, it's got the same AI as the old x-wing games and it's not going to get better i dont think. the point of it is the players are supposed to make up the difference for content like that. i've said it before and i'll say it again, there's no huge disparity between the skills of someone who can solo all the content in the game and someone who can't, the disparity comes when some players know old tricks and others don't. 'figure 8s for the win vs capital ships' is just one example of that.

i say, make the things dockable and let players man the guns. if people are going to object to flying and fighting, maybe they'd be more apt to just dock at the station and man an anonymous gun. makes it more fun for them, makes it more challenging for us.

I have only been playing JTL for a few days (Xmas present) but I did use to play the old X-Wing/Tie Figher games a hell of a lot when I was a whipper snapper. I am impressed by JTL as a whole but seeing this thread has raised concerns over it, I was playing last night and it felt like a cross between Xwing and Wing Commander 3, very pretty graphics but just lacks depth.

Why is soloing a Star Destroyer possible, I havent seen one yet but you would think that if you attacked it it would spaw 100's of Tie Fighters so why doesnt it?!

Also cant believe that the old figure of 8 type attack works in JTL the AI should be good enough to know what your doing and couter act it.

Manning the guns would be a good highlight in the game and make group play a lot more entertaining.

Anyway well done on the solo how much XP did you get?!
